Predraft workouts 2026 thread

I like Brown a bit as a kinda undersized energy big man, reminds me of Cardwell but a bit smaller (will play at 6'9").

Sharp is a nice older bully-ball off guard, not great size at 6'4" but another huge effort guy with a historical FT% that might suggest he'll be able to sink the three in the NBA. Good defender.

I think we know what Perry likes in the 2nd/undrafted range - tough, effort, energy, defense, tough. Can't blame him.

"Sacramento will be bringing in two former Big East stars, Alex Karaban (a 6’7” movement shooter from UConn) and Zuby Ejiofor, (a big man for St. John’s) for a closer look, per Vince Wolfram"

Edit: Edited to correct error pointed out by Tetsujin - thanks!

Not to be real nitpicky, but according to the combine, Karaban will play at 6'8". Still a bit of a surprise to me as I figured he was going to come out 6'9" but that's not to be.

But would you have said that if he had left for the NBA as a Wildcat?
Depends because I don't think he was welcome back at Arizona for good reasons. He was a black hole and one of the most selfish players I can recall during CTL's young tenure. I will fully admit he had two more years to grow and mature with the Illini and a lot of their fans loved him, but I also don't care for the pick on the presumption we draft a PG and don't need a second rounder at that position taking up space. It would also mean maybe we reached for a wing.

I'm not anti-Andrej for leaving Stanford, my second favorite program.

And we get Karaban in on Friday. Overall can’t really complain about the guys we’re bringing in for workouts.
Also Nickel could be a sneaky pick. Kid can shoot. Probably will have to find a way to move the needle in other areas as well to really get an NBA gig.

Not gonna lie, there wasn't a whole lot of separation between Conwell and Brown at L'Ville this year. Their defensive numbers turned out very similar, but I'd have given Conwell a much better grade on the eye test. Obviously Brown has the injury excuse, but just to say Conwell's no slouch.

Mitchell took the real long road from potential one-and-done at Duke to four-year Mizzou transfer. The numbers don't make it look like he ever quite figured out how to shoot (nice 3pt% this year but low volume) or play D, but Mizzou wasn't on my radar this year and I haven't seen him play since he was with the Blue Devils.

If you want to talk "positional size", NC State was playing Copeland as their lead guard at a pretty solid 6'7" (doesn't look like he was at the combine so no official numbers here). He led the ACC in assists this year but I'll admit I haven't watched him too carefully. He couldn't shoot a lick before hitting .397 from three this year on low volume. The passing is definitely there, but I haven't seen him in a lot of the consensus mocks, some mocks have him in the 50s. But hey, at #45 shoot your shot on the guy you like, right?
