PJ Brown

Don't Make Me Use The Bat
Just thought I'd note that PJ Brown is the latest Bull to have had enough of Scott Skiles' Napoleon complex:

And yet more evidence that one team's leader is another team's cancer sometimes.

I think he's largely washed up -- if anything happened it wouldn't be because he's got much left in the tank to contribute (was down to 7pts 7rebs last year). But what he's got is an $8 mil expiring contract, which is of considerable intrest if we actually were to decide to go the rebuild route. A little more than the KT/Reefs, a little less than Brad. Either way within easy reach with a few minor pieces tossed in etiher way. Could see Chicago having real uses for either Brad or Reef. Question would be can they afford to let PJs big ender go -- think the intial plan was to rent him this year, and use the extra capspace this summer after his contract expired to reup Heinrich and Nocioni.

But for instance you might be able to swap Brad to them for Brown and Victor Khryapa if the expiring deal isn't that critical for them. Or you might be able to swap Reef + Potapenko to them for Brown and a pick? Could we? Their own pick might be in the 20s, and Pot would help them keep a large chunk of the ender. So...maybe. Not sure why they would want KT other than depth, but KT and Hart/Pot works too.

Hinrich was given a front loaded extension, so they might be looking to keep the cap space.

If not, Reef would probably be the most enticing piece for them with his small contract and post play. Not sure they would want to give up their pick because they can swap it for the Knicks’ pick-- this is why I hope the Knicks step it up. I'd hate to see Chicago get that pick.

That why i think this trade I mentioned in the other thread would be ideal for both teams

Sacramento

Incoming Players:
P.J. Brown, Kirk Hinrich
Outgoing Players: Quincy Douby, Mike Bibby

Chicago

Incoming Players: Quincy Douby, Mike Bibby
Outgoing Players: P.J. Brown, Kirk Hinrich

I think this would benifit both teams. Chicago gets an in primed PG can play with Ben Walace and get a young player aswell. Bibby would help there offence alot.

For us we would get a young defensive PG that we need in the worst way and still get some cap room aswell to help sign a Big through FA.

I think at this point SAR is better for the Kings than what the Kings could get through free agency if his salary were off the books. If the Kings could trade Miller for PJ Brown and some other piece then I think Petrie would have to think about it. But I seriously doubt Chicago is going to give up PJ Brown since his expiring contract is the only way they could they go after Gasol or KG.

If only the Bulls would do that. Hinrich is one of my favorite non-Kings out there, and if we could pull this off I'd be thrilled. Unfortunately, Hinrich's almost, if not already, a better player than Bibby both sides of the court and is much younger. The Bulls consider him a crucial part of the core and I can't see them giving him up for this package. But if we could somehow manage to build around Hinrich/Martin, our backcourt would be set for years. Too bad there's no way...

^Also the Bulls are building their team with defense in mind, so that pretty much rules Bibby out.

I really do not think that is the case. Bibby is better offensively then Kirk and with Ben as your starter you need more offense and I think bibby would be the key.

I wouldn't trade Reef for PJ Brown. If we get cap space it has to be through dumping KT or Brad's extended deals. Reef would be good to keep when this team starts finding the right pieces for Muss because Muss seems to be using him well.
