With all the brouhaha over Kevin Martin's nickname recently, I found myself thinking of some of the most unusual/inexplicable nicknames in NBA history, including, but not limited to:

Anthony "Spud" Webb
Collier "PJ" Brown (Collier?)
Wayne "Tree" Rollins
Lloyd "World" B. Free
Lafayette "Fat" Lever
Ronald "Popeye" Jones

So, with that in mind, which player do you think has/had the most unusual nickname?

Daron "Mookie" Blaylock...... eh?
Vernell "Bimbo'" Coles- why would anyone ...... ?
Shawn "Reignman" Kemp
Allen "The Answer" Iverson- obviously the answer is wrong.
Paul "the Truth" Pierce- Pedja just caught him in a lie.
All of Shaquille O'Neal nicknames (except Shaq) starting with "the Big Aristotle"

Just to add to that: Vince "half man, half amazing" Carter- Why would any want too be half amazing, let alone half a man?

Anthony "Spud" Webb - "Spud" for being small (I Think?)
Wayne "Tree" Rollins - Being wide as a tree
Lloyd "World" B. Free -
I think he legally changed his name from Lloyd to "World".

Ronald "Popeye" Jones - kinda looks like "Popeye" :D

I wasn't actually asking about the derivations of the nicknames; I just thought they were weird... BTW, you don't have to select "black" as a color; it's the default...

And KingKong, I'm pretty sure that "Bean" is actually Kobe Bryant's middle name; perhaps a Laker fan can confirm or deny.

Yeah I'm prety sure Bean is actuly Kobe's middle name, derived from his FATHER's NBA nick Jelly Bean Bryant

The most unusal I've ever heard was Stoyko "The Big White Stiff" Vrankovic.

And when Michael Olowokandi was with the Clippers, the crowd would call him "You Suck". That's a weird nickname too.

Anfernee "Penny" Hardaway. Why would a grown man want to be called Penny?
was a family nickname i believe, something about his grandma actually calling him ''pretty'' (or something like that) and it came out penny... which might be better for a grown man ;)

(name?) ''smush'' parker

You can't forget:

Karl "The Mailman" Malone
John "The Pasty Gangsta" Stockton
Nick "Rat Boy" Van Exel
Gary "The Glove" Payton
"Pistol Pete" Marovich

Antoine "Big Dog" Carr
David "The Admiral" Robinson

"Bonzi" Wells, (that can't be his given name)
Mugsie Bowes (ditto)

What about:
Charles "The Round Mound of Rebound" Barkley?

I agree that old Daryl "Chocolate Thunder" Dawkins was a good one, also.

Or Chuck "The Rifleman" Person.
Or Vinnie "Microwave" Johnson
Or Isiah "Zeke" Thomas

I still think Kevin Martin's nickname should be "Martini" instead of "Flash"... but "Flash" is cool... if it sticks, however, he best hope he never gets trade to a team with red uniforms.

Matt "The Red Rocket" Bonner. (who is leading the league at 60% FG on mostly perimeter J's by the way)

It's a reference to his hair color and Toronto transportation. Pass it on!
