next years line-up

16to93

Bench
I've been reading alot of complaints about next years linup.....

in my opinion it is extremely solid

look

PG
Mike Bibby
Bobby Jackson

SG
Cuttion Mobley
Maurice Evans

SF
Peja Stojakovic
Corliss Williamson

PF
Kenny Thomas
Darius Songaila

C
Brad Miller
Brian Skinner

but i also think that there will be a trade of somekind to get a solid power forward better than kenny or darius

does anyone else agree that this is a very good lineup ?

I'm not sure if will have Cuttino or Peja nor am I sure if will have Kenny, Skinner and Corliss. I'm guessing 1 of the first 2 are probally gone, and 1 of the last 3 are probally gone.

A good line-up? Perhaps. A very good lineup? Possibly. A lineup capable of winning it all? Nope.

Thank goodness for the off-season, when we'll have all the time in the world to talk about this from sun-up to sunset, for days and days and days and days... and days ...

PejaHoops16 that is same team we have now?!I agree that we need one better PF and maybe one sg more as a backup.

LOL VF!!! you crack me up. I cant believe your LOOKING FORWARD TO THE OFFSEASON!!! HAHAHA is that really you or an impostor? No way. The sky is falling :D

Unless he makes dramatic improvements, showing that he has the heart and can step it up in the playoffs as well as during the crucial moments of games, I'd say trading Peja would be one of the most beneficial things to do.

No, no, no, no, no...

I'm not looking forward to the off-season. I was simply trying to be diplomatic and say this is the kind of stuff that is better discussed in the off-season.

;)

I was thinking the same thing....

That line-up looks awfully familiar.

Its a good enough lineup to make the playoffs with as a low seed. If that's all you want to do, the depth alone let's you pull a Memphis. But its not good enough to seriously scare the great teams, and its woefully weak in size, interior play, defensive stoppers, and even *gasp* in exceptional passers. Nobody demands a double team. Nobody can be counted on to lock people down every night.

You don't win big in the NBA on the backs of mid-level players, and you don't really need a 10-deep team. This offseason witll be the time to cash in some of those mid-level shrug type players and go after another stud or two.

This is the first season in quite a few that I've been waiting for the offseason...:(

But I know Petrie will make us better. As long as he doesn't pull another Ostertag. :)

Our starting SF is better than our starting SG so why would you want another starting SF?

Our starting SF has been woefully inadequate lately. On the other hand, our starting SG has shown more than once he's capable of hitting multiple threes at critical junctures.

Take off the blinders.

the team is loaded with good role players, and, as good as that can make us feel about the team right now, it basically means the team isn't going anywhere without adding one more piece. webber, as great as he was and as much as i love him, is no longer that player that can lead us over the top. role players are only good when a good role is created for them, as in being a second or third option behind a big-time playmaker. in bibby, we've got an amazing player, but he really should be someone's sidekick, not the star of the show. if we manage to grab an elite pf from somewhere, we could be an instant contender. im praying we'll make a giant splash in the offseason to push us back into the elite ranks where we belong.

and doesn't ostertag have one more season left on his contract? people keep saying hes gonna be gone, and im sure he will be, but how exactly is that gonna work? at this point, hes not attractive at all for any trade, so i can only imagine we'll get junk for him (as in a long contract that someone wants to unload) or we'll have to buy out his contract.

Becuase we are so obscenely far over the salary cap, any major acquisitions we make are going to have to be via trade as opposed to free agency. So, in a major trade, we could send Tag and his expiring contract as part of a deal...

I don't think so.

Have you look at Cat's play lately?

this season is deffinetly one of the worst of Peja's career. but doesn't that mean he will almost deffinetly go no where but up? we've seen what Peja is capable of, and his best season was last year where C-Webb didnt play most of the year, so obviously Peja, if he can get back on track, can really add to this team. you may say cuttino is playing really well, but truthfully, im not sure how much i like his level of agression or even how he has been shooting the ball recently. overall peja is better than mobley, no offense meant to cat, and peja's future, to me, also looks brighter...dont dump peja, nor mobley, but pick cat over peja

Cat is not the player that fits on our team. He is a poor defender and a poor rebounder combine that with another poor defender in our starting PG and a very poor rebounder in our SF that unique formula is why we are one of the worst defensive teams in the NBA. Now of our three positions mentioned above Mobley is the weakest link.

I think we know why Peja was so good last year. It was definitely the other guys getting him the ball and setting the picks for him. It wasn't all Webber's fault but he didn't hurt nor help him. I dont know how Peja can possibly come back to old form but isn't going to be all that ez.

You make a basic but critical error in your assessment of Peja.

When you say his best season was last year where C-Webb didn't play, you need to look at why.

Vlade played the 5 and Brad the 4 for most of that time, meaning our offense ran smoothly through the high post. Peja got a lot of assistance in both passes and screens from the two bigs.

THAT IS OVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

While Brad is adequate at passing, when he's healthy and able to play, our new PFs are not anywhere near as talented as passing bigs. Period.

Quite frankly, at least Cat wants to be here and he has a drive and desire that cannot be mistaken.

People keep saying IF Peja can get back, blah, blah, blah... Well, what IF he can't?

I would add IMO only that I don't think he will get back unless he has someone to set him up.

Without Christie and Vlade, Peja simply can't find his place on this team anymore. That's why I don't think the old Peja will ever come back.

I didn't pick Cat over Peja. I only said we need another SF. It's bojan_pecanac who starts comparing the 2.

And if he can't get back without someone to set him up, he's simply another role player...very talented but limited in what he can do.

Just as a side note: People seem to forget that from the beginning, it was Vlade AND Webber who dished the ball to Peja, not just Vlade. When Webber went out, Brad stepped in and FILLED the role. He (Miller) certainly didn't create it. I just wanted to state that because it just puzzles me how people can forget how sweet this team looked in 2002 when both Vlade and Webber were getting the ball to Peja to enable him to do his magic. It happened in 2003, too, until Webber went down. It was only when Webber came back that people started talking about the conflicts between them and forgetting about the beauty that had existed before then.

Matt Barnes is a free agent at the end of this season.

And, if you'll notice, TWO of the huge salaries we got in trade for Webber are not on the list. (Williamson and Thomas)...In addition, we might just do a sign and trade for Peja (whose Bird rights we own).

I didn't say anything about how the players would get to be here.

I am fully aware of who is on our team and who isn't. AND I know how they got here.
