Unless Memphis loves Domas or we plan to throw away multiple unprotected firsts, there is no way he’s getting traded to sac.

More blind squirrel trying to find a nut lunacy. That team would be just as imbalanced as now. Maybe even more since Schroder tries on defense at times. The Kings shouldn't be looking to add more max money, they need to breaking down the salaries of the larger contracts they have now. There is only one way out of this and you need a softer salary cap structure to do that otherwise they're still topped out day 1 with little ability to improve or augment the roster.

Who will want to come to the Kings? Should they just forget the idea of trying to acquire any good players, because it might not be the players top 5 choice?
I’m not saying don’t try but I am saying take your homer hat off because he will have options and if their are atleast 2 teams vying for him his preference won’t be Sacramento

Do it.

It’ll be our Webber for Richmond moment of the 2020’s.

At this point in his career, Ja Morant does have the off-the-court resume to warrant comparison to Chris Webber circa 1998. I hope for his sake that he's able to turn his career around the way Webber did. He's an exciting basketball player to watch when he gets out of his own way and lets his game do the talking. But I also would be wary of taking him on because he also seems headed for the type of catastrophic knee injury which ruined Derrick Rose's career and cut Webber's short.

Webber was a top 10 player, just stuck in Washington.

Webber was a top 10 player, just stuck in Washington.

CWebb feuded with his first head coach and forced a trade after just one year in the league then got busted twice for marijuana possession in 1998 at a time when that was still illegal. Washington traded him because of the hassle related to his legal issues and the perception that he was a head case, not because he was a bad player. And the same will likely be true of Morant, who did finish 7th in MVP voting in 2022.

Webber also had a sexual assault allegation against him in 1998, (though he was not charged, maybe because it was 1998?)

I didn't remember that part. So I guess it's a good thing that I didn't try to make a judgement call on which guy's off-the-court problems are worse.

I didn't mean to contradict anybody. I think a lot of people forgot about that part of the Webber story.

As we look around for a new tarnished star to rejuvenate the Kings like we did in the past, it's intrinsically good to know more about the previous situation.

Oh totally, I appreciate the assist! I had forgotten the extent of Webber's issues.

Right I said he was a top 10 player

Morant comes with some baggage and he would need to go to a franchise that has a prolonged, solid culture in place.
City culture is just as important as team culture, for a guy who can't stop getting himself into trouble a move from Memphis to Sacramento could be healthy.

most cities have vices that can be appealing to millionaire athletes
Yeah but even Oak Park 40 years ago wasn't on anyone's list of murder capital of America.

I may be wrong but didn't Reke's spiral begin when he left Sacramento? Or maybe he was already on that path.

there really is no way of knowing other than the man himself. A city culture won't help a player like Morant though. The environment he grew up in and the people he surrounds himself with, if he still does, doesn't change according to geography.
