Here it is - the Official KingsFans.com Mock Draft Thread!

Due to occasional issues with long posts, I will be breaking the Draft Board into six posts to immediately follow this one, which will be updated with each pick as soon as reasonable (I do have a job...!)

The draft will officially begin at 8 AM PDT tomorrow, so Macadocious (who I know has put that pick on the block) will have until 4 PM to get a trade done or make a pick! I'll send a "conversation" to Macadocious to indicate the start of the draft - please don't forget to do this for the next drafter after you make your pick!

Here we go...!

Why is this (and the other one about trades) thread here instead at the games forum?
What this has to do with kings basketball?

Can't ignore thread and like to keep all posts read.

MOD NOTE: The other thread is the trade block, meaning trade proposals should be there. I'm moving them to consolidate the discussions.

206Fan is MIA, and the clock has expired. Thus, Capt. makes the pick. Capt., in what most would believe is full agreement with Magic Johnson, selects Lonzo Ball.

bajaden is on the clock for the third pick and the 76ers. Due to the time being after the standard "bedtime", bajaden has until 1 PM Saturday to select. PM sent.

The 76érs with the 3rd pick in the draft, select Josh Jackson. Explanation: Philly needs shooting and with Fox being a bit of a question mark, and with their coach saying that Simmons is going to play the point, Josh Jackson is the next best player that's not a PG. Monk would be a bit of a reach just to get a pure shooter.

With the 5th pick in the KingsFans.com Mock Draft 2017 the Sacramento Kings select...

Jayson Tatum, SF, Duke

(*) Sources close to the FO stated "the Sacramento FO was not surprised with the way the draft unfolded so far. Whilst they admittedly hoped that one of the PG prospects will slide to #5, especially as the Suns already have a starting PG in Bledsoe, they were equally happy to pick a promising SF to fill a glaring need, specifically since SF Rudy Gay made his intentions to opt out and not extend his tenure with the franchise public."

R2Divac went on record to say "Jayson Tatum is not only an exciting prospect but also one that fits perfectly with the new culture and character I wish to instil within the organisation. Jayson brings versatility on both ends of the court. He has the ability to score at will while still having superior court vision. He has a great BBIQ and the works ethics we are looking for. He is also a capable and willing defender. It was a 'no-brainer' to pick him, as he could have easily gone higher than 5".

Jason commented that "he is thrilled to join a club focussed on developing players, with so many up-and-coming young prospects. I can't wait to get into the gym and continue working on my long range shot. Can't wait to spend some time in the weight room, too! I am confident that we will turn into the team the great fans of Sacramento deserve".

(*) Edited to add explanation of the pick.

With the 6th pick in the KingsFans.com Mock Draft 2017 the Orlando Magic select:

Jonathan Isaac, SF, Florida State.

Could someone else please PM the next person in line? I've been trying to make this post for the past 15 minutes and don't have the patience to do the same to send a PM, especially when it might not even send at all. Sorry for the inconvenience.

(PM sent - Capt.)

With the 7th pick in the KingsFans.com Mock Draft 2017 the Minnesota Timberwolves select:

Malik Monk, Guard, Kentucky.

Thibs chose Monk because his team needs an outside shooter. Monk splashing down 3's should open up the paint for KAT.

With the 8th pick in the KingsFans.com Mock Draft 2017 the New York Knicks select:
Frank Ntilikina, France

Phil Jackson is quoted as saying that the French guards length, long range shooting and skill set fits perfectly with the triangle system.

King of England is now on the clock. With their 15-hour clock only 6.5 hours in, they get 8.5 hours instead of 8 (bonus!). The clock will expire at 5:30 AM Sunday morning in Sacramento (1:30 PM local time for KoE, if I've got the conversion right in my head.) PM sent.

I was going to leave it a while to see if any interesting trade deals are offered but I've realised that most of you are probably asleep right now....

Dallas were really hoping for a PG here, they have a lot of backup points in Harris, Barea, Ferrell but no clear starter. I think they would be expecting to pick Ntilikina here, who they've scouted a lot. They consider a big, Collins or Markkanen (but I'm not a fan), but with Smith falling into their lap I think there is only one choice.

With the 9th pick the Dallas Mavericks are thrilled to pick Dennis Smith - PG from NC State

With the 12th pick, the Pistons select John Collins - PF - Wake Forest.

Took a long look at Justin Jackson to plug in off the bench at F, but with decided to find another big body to pair with Drummond. Van Gundy's staff will concentrate on improving his defense, while letting him get points with hustle plays.

N0tmyfault is on the clock, clock expires at 10:45 Pacific. PM sent.

(BTW to all: when you make your pick, don't be shy about PM'ing the next drafter. Cuts down my workload, and I'm not always going to see your pick immediately.)
