Hall of Famer
First, let me get back to the last game for a moment (or two). Felt good, especially beating Spurs with defense. Does not happen every day. So my question would be - wher the hell was THAT effort all season long ? Is it too much to ask that they do it like EVERY GAME ? How does one decide which opponent is worthy of playing hard and which is not ?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bobby is out. What else is new ? Kings have to have at least one "killer" injury per season. I would not count on BJax for the PO either. We need a backup PG and quick. While I like what Martin and Evans showed lately I think that it would be "unfair" to put that burden on them. The should get their minutes elswhere.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Funny how when You let players play - the tend to produce. Looks like RA is grasping that concept too ( somebody must have told him that ). It is refreshing to see players in Kings uniform (Martin & Evans ) who actually earn their minutes by playing hard, fitting in and contributing. That leads me to my next question - Which new skills did these 2 players aquire in the recent weeks to suddendly get some PT ? (rethorical) It is more than pathetic than a major injury is needed to be "forced" to let guys play who really want to be out there every second they can get. And guess what - they have skills too. Great coaching .

Knicks suck. That is how one could summerize the quality of our next opponent. They have a good PG who will create some problems but that is about it.
Kings have not won at the Garden for the last 5 centuries. Last couple years we blew big leads.
4 games in 5 nights is the much harder than the opponents we play. Now I do not expent that we repeat the same effort from the last game but something close to that should do it tonight.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
CW - will have interesting matchup with K. Thomas who likes perimiter jumpers a lot. Obviously Thomas can not guard CW which can be exploited. I hope for less turnovers and less jumpers unless they come from a play where at least 3 Kings touch the ball. Also hope that RA realizes that we need enough Webber 4 times in 5 nights and do not play him too much

Pedja always shot well in the Garden. He needs to continue to play like he did in the last 2 games. If he does we will not only win tonight but also sweep this trip.

Bibby is due to put 2 good halves together. He will need it too because S. M (self proclaimed best PG in the league) will be tough to guard.

Brad has been solid lately but he needs to stop practicing any kind of shooting with Tag. His FT have not been too good lately.

DC - has to do even more dirty work now. He needs to take care of the ball better hand hit a shot ot two.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bobby - get well soon

Tag - might actually get to play some more on this trip. As long as we do not run our offense trough him, we will be OK. He is doing what he is supposed to do. Pretty well actually if might add.

Dariud will once again do what Darius does to help us.

Martin & Evans - Let them play RA - just let them play.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

RA - It took him just 30 games and a major injury to figure out that there is more in this team than 7 man rotation. That deserves a coach of the year nomination at least. Will see if he can get Kings to play with same intensity they did ni the last game
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Also LAL vs SAS tonight. Unfortunately there has to be a winner. Same goes for Wolves vs Suns. Fortunately, there will be a loser so it can be a good night for Kings.

Last I heard, you haven't actually been to a Kings practice this year. Who knows what they have or have not shown throughout the season. All we can do is look at the games. When Martin played in the pre-season he played timid. He was reluctant to shoot and he wasn't aggressive. Perhaps he practiced this way as well. But he is playing COMPLETELY different from the moment he stepped on the floor against Utah. Apparently, he has aquired something. Give the coaching some credit for, God forbid, preparing a player to play in the NBA. It doesn't sound like good coaching to play a guy because as you said they "really want to be out there every second they can get." So do I, but you don't see me on the court.

So basically what You are saying is that Martin learned to play BB between games vs GS and Utah (2 days). Miracle. In the first one he did not play - in the next he did well.

Only diference is that he actually got a chance. If Bobby where healthy he would have had 2 more DNP -CDs. Nobody became a player by sitting on the bench. BTW - Drazen Petrovic ring a bell ?

To Your last point - we are talking about BB players. They do this for living. All of them. They have skills. Some of them care more than the others.

the kings *should* beat the knicks good tonight. houston hasn't been good since coming back, crawford is out. marbury is a threat, and could have a huge game, but mike can certianly drop a good night to lessen the blow. also peja likes MSG.

GO KINGS!!!!

Another thing about tonight's game...I heard that Kings only won once at Madison Square Garden since the Kings moved to Sac?? Tough place to play for Kings.

According to piksi's signature, the "Kings 11 - 0 when Pedja leads the team in scoring" so since Pedja do play well in NYC, I'm hoping for a good night for him and the Kings to win! :)

GOO KINGS!!!!

In an idealistic world where you don't have a media that rips its local team apart after every loss and where you don't have fans who want to trade a player after every bad game or fire a coach for every timeout not called, I would love to develop players during games. Yes, we are talking about BB players, PROFESSIONAL BB players. You play the best you've got. If that means a rookie who had yet to prove anything in this league rode the pine while a former 6th man of the year took all of his minutes ... so be it. Only in Sacramento do we have fans (or supposed fans) who complain that rookies aren't getting enough playing time when we have multiple all-stars and veterans on a championship caliber team. I don't think anyone in Detroit complained about Darko Milicic's minutes last year.

that is so true, only the media whined about that.....

As far as I know Martin and Jackson play different positions

Bibby on Marbury...lets hope we see the defensive Bibby from sunday night.

4 games in 5 days wont be good for Webber, but one of those games is against NO, so we can afford to play him more in these 3 games. Still, RA needs to rest him more than usual.

There were times Martin ran the point, and times where he was playing the 2-guard.

Exactly. And that's pretty common in our system. Bobby has played with Bibby on the court, with DC on the court, and at times he's relieved each of them. The same can hold true for Kevin.

Remember, our offense generally runs through our bigs anyway. The "point" isn't as clearly defined as it is on some teams, especially those in the east.

He did not run the point. He brought the ball up court and gave it to CW or Brad. Now, I do think that Bibby and somewhat Bobby did some more.
Also it would be very unfair to dump such responsibility on a young man who is new to everything.

He did play point for a short period of time, piksi.

I just rewieved the tape. He was in the back court with Evans for 3 minutes. He did bring the ball up. He did not run any plays. It depends on Your definition of the PG.

You reviewed the entire game tape?

He was in the back court with Evans for three minutes, which I think qualifies as a "short period of time." Evans was the 2-guard. If it wasn't Kevin playing the "point" position, who was it?

No, never mind. I've grown weary of arguing about this...

;)

Anything wrong with watching Kings beat Spurs again ?

BTW when is approproate to use sarcasm here ( to the moderator)

You didn't say you watched the game again. You were very specific - you said, "I just reviewed the tape."

I found it somewhat bizarre that you would REVIEW (your word, not mine) the entire tape just to see whether or not I was wrong about Kevin playing "point" - which I wasn't.

Grant asked the trivia question. I posted it in the PBP. Feel free to post your guesses here. The answers will be available at the half.

:D

weird defensive sequence to end the 1st qtr (results in a marbury 3)

they were talking to each other.. i think bibby was too busy trying to instruct his teammates to get ready to help or whatever.. cause next thing he knows, marbury hits a 3..
