Free Agency Thread - 2018

If the Celtics get Smart which it looks like they will hopefully they could dump Marcus Morris on us since between Hayward/Tatum/Brown/Smart/Semi they don't have many minutes for him and he will be due for nice pay day next season so they are better off developing Semi as the last option SF. Even if it's a 1 year rental would love it.

This is a good get for us if he signs here. Looks to be a better passing Ryan Anderson, and this team can always use shooters around Fox and Bogie.

He’s a bench warmer. Let’s get real. The Kings are the only stupid team to over pay this guy. He has no value, other that an end of bench guy. His signing will not move the needle for this team one iota. He is 31 when the season starts. Vlade needs to step down. His level of incompetence is blinding.

Sign Bjelica (stretch four)
Sign McCaw (Sf)
Get the clippers on the phone for and obvious big for little swap. Pat Beverly is unguaranteed and they already have 15 under contract. This means they basically have 16 players, so we ask for Beverly (since they jave avery bradley) and a wing (we ask for sam dekker but theu counter with wesley johnson). They can pick any of the following bigs: Zbo, Kosta, Davis, Willie, or Skal. They take Davis and Skal to get under cap to keep their restricted free agent harrell.

Kings out: Skal, Davis, and 7.1 in cap space
Kings in: Pat Beverly and Wes. Johnson

Fox, Beverly
Buddy, Wes. Johnson
Bogi, JJ
Giles, Bjelly
KK, Bags

So if I told you that Vlade had oatmeal for breakfast this morning, would you have a diatribe about the idiocy of eating hot cereal already written, or would you have to extemporize?

Jomama, you suggest sign 2 FA, Trade 2 for 2
It leaves us with 16 on Roster:

Fox, Beverly,Mason
Buddy, Wes Johnson,Bmac,Shump
McCaw,Bogi, JJ
Giles, Bjelly,Zbo
WCS,KK, Bags

We will have 15 after the Bjelly sign
Ideally WCS for a SF starter(Harkless,1st for WCS,2nd) use 5m cap with Portland
and Davis and 5m cap for Beverly with clippers

Perfect balanced 15:

Fox,Beverly,Mason
Bogs.Buddy,Bmac
Harkless, JJ,Shump
Bjelly,Skal,Zbo (two stretch 4s)
Bags,Giles,KK

If we have 16, just waive Ben.

Hark and Bev would be great, but the Clippers are not going to give Beverly away for nothing, which is why I suggested helping them with cap room so they can keep their own free agent.

No sure what you mean here:
WCS for a SF starter(Harkless,1st for WCS,2nd)

Depends on how much cap space Portland wants? If we get a SF starter will use all cap space
esp if we get a 1st pick for a 2nd

Harkless is 10.8 mil WCS is 4.7. You think Portland will swap a first round pick for a second round pick for 6.1 million in cap space?

Portland is 7.8 almost 7.9 over the luxury, this trade wouldn't even take them out of the luxury tax. Why would they give up a first and still be in luxury?

Have you seen willie play? He horribly lazy 71.4 % of the time.

Obre,Mihinmi 1st for WCS,Davis,2nd
Saves 13 Sal, 19 Tax and 16cap next yr thats 48mil and Talent swap for a pick swap
WA Still has backup for Dwight in WCS

Geez how much do we have to spend for a 1st rounder?

No they wouldn't swap the 1st rounder, but I'd ask for 2 2nds and Harkless for WCS. Clears a lot of room for them this year and next.

tax teams OKC,GS,Tor,Rockets so close to finals just dont care
Next biggest tax teams Wash 19 tax, Portland 12 only teams that may want our space
to get pick/SF - so what is it Harkless or Oubre

Harkless is a good bit more effective than Oubre is right now but Oubre still has plenty of time to reach Harkless' level and beyond.
Oubre is all ready better than Harkless and he is getting better by the season just adding to his game. Also a stellar defender, no way Washington just gives him away.

Tyrone Wallace from the Clippers would be a really nice get to compete with Mason for the back-up PG spot. Showed really good defensive potential last year, really long, great athleticism, probably can defend the 1-3. Offensive game has a ways to go, but there's basically 0 chance the Clippers retain any offer on him and I like the idea of betting on a tall/long/athletic defender as a developmental project.

Looks like the 6ers are very thin with bigs.
They only have one center, who happens to have an injury history.

Keith Pompey @PompeyOnSixers said they are working on another move.

Their rookie sf zhaire smith isn't going to see time behind wilson chandler, dario saric, and robert covington.

With the melo trade, they got their stretch four.

Out: Kosta 2.5 in cap space
In: Covington and 2nd round pick

Win-Win. We get Sf, they get help up front.
We get long-term solution at sf, i.e. no more can he play sf?

Next, talk to Clippers about Beverly, they need cap space to resign Herrell

Fox- Beverly
Bogi-Buddy
Covington-JJ
Giles-Bagley
WCS-Skal

Come on, you don't really think that Koufos and Covington have the same value, do you? He's one of the best 3&D players in the game.
