[Rumor] Domas trade watch 2026

I mean... I like Embiid but this is like dropping a carton of eggs on the floor of the check out aisle and seeing yolk ooze out the side and then asking if anyone else in line wants to trade with you.

I was not sure I got the impression that Philly would be sending tons of draft capital our way when I came across this story last night. I think I was getting the impression this was another "Sacramento exists to send their talent to real teams and absorb everyone's bad money and suck in perpetuity" story.

Anyways, I vote no solely on the Domas is likely going to play and Embiid isn't. If I am a paying fan I want to see guys play. Part of what made this year so unattractive when the Kings came to town and I usually go is that Keegan and Domas were out.

Id imagine we go into the season with Domas on the roster and see how things shake out. Unless a team like the Lakers or a team like that is interested. Or maybe the Bulls show interest to pair with Wilson (potentially)

I think we have to keep him if we draft a guard (even if that guard is limited defensively) unless a team makes some crazy godfather deal. Really hoping we can buy a second pick or three and then we can worry about how we'll pay for things down the road than having to build our roster while near the second apron and knowing any guy we sign to a prove it type deal will be playing for another team if he actually proves it.

Domas and Monk are the ones to watch. They are the stumbling blocks to major 2027 cap space right now. The Kings could have like two max slots available. If they can get Monks salary off the books they could possibly hang onto Domas and then add a major piece or then tear it down to the studs and get some legit flyer/pick packages with that space.

Look, if the Kings can get his deal off the books then even if the return isn't great that's the way to go. As long as the Kings don't have to throw in any value of course. Cap space is about to spike in terms of value. Teams with space are going to be the gateway to teams improving now that the apron thing is starting to solidify and with the lottery changes picks via trade might have as much value. If a team can get two or three shots in that top 16 or whatever it is then you can really increase your chances to end up high in the draft.

The Raptors really thought they’d be able to get a team to take on Poeltl’s nasty contract without having to give anything up lol

And there's why you don't sign those ancillary guys like that. They may have just stuck themselves in the middle when they might be one Domas level move away from getting to the top of the East. Don't let your stars go, everyone else should have their value based entirely on the success of the team and market value. If a team isn't a contender? Keep swinging on lower bets, not betting high on lower return.

After seeing KAT (who was considered soft) just man handle Wemby and beat down the Spurs, I'm hoping that puts more value in Domas's trade value.

If it's physicality that can slow down Wemby and beat the Spurs, they don't get much more physical than Domas. We all know this is a copy cat league and if the Knicks solved how to beat the Spurs, Domas may be in a higher demand this summer.

KAT is one of the best shooting big men of all time and has good size he does not impact Sabonis trade value who could not be more different at all.

KAT is beating Wemby due to his physicality with him. Man handling him and pushing him off his spots and making him uncomfortable. KAT's shooting is a bonus, but that is not what has flustered and slowed down Wemby.

If OKC had Sabonis banging and battling with Wemby, instead of Chet Holmgren, OKC probably wins that series.

No they don't cause OKC would give up like 150points the reason the Knicks are winning is cause they and 9 days off and faced 3 completely non serious teams in the playoffs while the Spurs had to go through OKC in a 7 game series, KAT played Jokic and Embid even or was better than both at times he's known for getting up to play the best bigs. Its not like Sabonis has dealt well with physicality in playoffs when Looney and Tristan Thompson got the better of him

Who has Sabonis ever got the better of in playoffs or play in games with his "physicality".

You got a completely fresh team going against one on its last legs for the season.

If San Antonio wanted more days of rest, they should have won 14 playoff games in a row. I guess you could quibble about quality of competition but at the end of the day we still have two of the best teams in the league on the same court and only one of them gets to win. The further we get into the series, the less the "New York had more rest" excuse ought to matter. Give the Knicks some credit here.

And I do think Sabonis would have made a difference in that series. Chet is a completely different type of player. Wemby isn't bothered by length -- he's bothered by strength. The point would be for OKC to have Chet defending the basket from San Antonio's guards and Sabonis (or someone like him) to hold ground and make life more difficult for Wemby. Not to mention setting picks to get Shai a cleaner path to the basket.

Last time I checked KAT wasn't considered a defensive anchor or All-Defensive type player. He was considered soft by most accounts and that was why he was traded from Minnesota in the first place. But, in this series he has been playing a lot tougher and more physical with Wemby and Wemby has been out of sorts because of it.

Its not a fair fight you literally give one team a mid season break while the other is going life and death with the best team in the NBA, "you can quibble about the quality of competition" , seriously? Atlanta, Philly are not play off teams in the West and Cleveland always loses once it's past the first round the East is anyone can get there just with small luck. The NBA has to go to a 1-16 format cause this is ridiculous right now and make it best of 3 until the Finals where you go best of seven if you have a hard schedule you can potentially play 9 more games on top of the other team resting which is crazy and unbalanced.

Yeah sure Sabonis the guy who has never made a difference in a single play in or playoff series where his physical style works against him due to lack of length and more physicality being thrown at him with even worse whistle (does not get calls he deserves in the regular season) would make a difference. The guy has been bad in the playoffs. Knowing Sabonis he's probably be getting outplayed by Luke Kornett.

I'm not going to deny that teams in the Eastern Conference have an easier path to the Finals right now, we all know that they do. But if the level of competition were the only factor then the East would be getting their butts kicked in the Finals every year and that's not what's happening. It's been pretty close to even since the Lakers run of dominance in the early 2000s.

The point is not how Sabonis has performed in the past with completely different teammates around him, it's estimating how he might have performed as a part of this OKC team. Even the 16, 11, and 5 he averaged against Golden State in our 2023 First Round series would have made a difference for OKC over the 8, 8, and 3 they got from Hartenstein. It's a completely hypothetical situation. Either of us could be right. When I watch Wemby I see a young player who can still be baited into taking bad shots if you cut off his drive. Sabonis doesn't have reach but he does know how to box out and is tough to move once he gets into position.

Amick reporting that the Kings and Hornets have discussed Sabonis. The Hornets have “some interest”, but the Kings want one of their picks (they have 14 and 18) and the Hornets would prefer to wait until after the draft. A deal appears “unlikely” before the draft.

Not a time for the Hornets to diddle daddle. Make a deal during the draft if anything. Ascending teams shouldn’t be cautious…..ask the Kings after the beam team.
