Am I the only one who finds himself LIKING Shaq now?

It's weird, I hated his guts when he was on the Lakers, and now i'm pretty much rooting for the Heat in every game they've played so far. Granted, having Dwayne Wade on my fantasy team helps out a bit in that respect, but I actually don't hate Shaq anymore either.

What is going on here???

In answer to your first question -- yes. :)

I will say this, right now Shaq is doing his best "good teammate" bit and isn't being egged on to arrogant stupidity by the poison that was the Lakers locker room. That said, its still Shaq. Nothing's changed. He will remain happy as long as the spotlight is on him, and the team is about him. When its not, he'll throw a temper tantrum a toddler would be proud of.

Man, that is really weird, i just told my friend who is a lakers fan, last night that i don't seem to HATE Shaq anymore. Is this because only because he isn't a laker anymore? Maybe because Duane Wade is a badass mo' fo'?? Or maybe it's just cuz shaq lost like 100 lbs.? Not quite sure but i think the new jersey has somethin to do with it. Wouldn't say i LIKE him yet tho.

Not to worry. There is still plenty of time in the 2004-2005 NBA season to adopt a healthy attitude about Shack.

Actually they just televised the Heat- Cavs game here in India and I would have to agree that I don't hate him as much as when he was on the Lakers. Don't get me wrong there is still hate, but you could say it has toned down. On another note, Shaq looks like he's in much better shape (he seemed to be bouncing all over the place, running back on defense). Dwade (as I like to call him) and Haslem are studs and this Heat team looks pretty good even against mediocre competition.

"Sacramento will never be the capital of California! Los Angeles is the new capital of California!"

"Mike Bibby is a boyscout. He doesn't deserve to be on the WC team."

"I'm not afraid of the Sacramento Queens. Write it down, print that."

There. You've been cured of your Shaq-liking disease.

When a big babby gets his own way he is always happy and easy to be arround. It's when he DOSENT that the rest of the world pays.

I loved Shaq prior to his stint in LA, and now I can love him again.

I'm so glad he's no longer a Laker.

Are we talking about ShaqFu?? If so, I will never like him. :D

When he does retire, I think he should become a bouncer. Heheh.

Let's say this is finally the year that Sacramento makes it to the Finals. Let's also say that Miami makes it past Detroit when the Wallaces bump heads and fall into comas. Will you stop liking Shaq when he faces the Kings in the Finals?

Dissing the town of Sac, or the Kings as a team never bothered me.

However, he was also an a-hole to specific players as well, specifically Doug and Bibby (middle quote). THAT was where I drew the line. Ahole.

I actually always enjoyed the moronic trash talk (queens etc...) It made the whole circus more enjoyable.

Yes. But that's not necessrily liking Shaq less but liking the Kings more.

Shaq did want to be traded here too, for all his badmouthing.

Stop hating Shaq? Ain't gonna happen. I will watch Miami games now, all the while hoping they lose. Never cared about them before. Now I shall root against them.......but, never as animatedly as I root against the Lakers.

I still cant stand him, the minute that he starts to get hyped up by Espn, before the playoffs we will all hate him....

"Miami is the captial of Florida,The Wallaces are boyscouts.... blah, blah, blah..."

I never really took Shaq seriously. I never really liked him, I never really disliked him either. He's definitely the most dominant player I've ever watched and can take over a game all by himself. As far as liking him goes, you just may be the only one.

I find it hard to believe you're a true Kings fans if two regular season Heat games make you like Shaq. I don't even like Shaq, and I'm a Laker fan. How can a Kings fan like Shaq with all the s*** he has talked about the Kings over the years?

Don't be fooled, Shaq doesn't respect anyone but himself.

I don't think Shaq even knows what respect is.....ego...yes. The man respects no one, not even himself. How can someone have respect for themselves while treating others with such disdain and contempt?

I still hate Shaq, but come on now if this guy was on the Kings (most may think god forbid), we as fans would definately be uneasy about it at first, but then we would support him, if not love him because he is on our team and he would bring championships or the possibilty of championships to our team. It was the same thing with the Lakers for seven years and now the with the Heat. Now that he has left Lakerland the fans hate him. Similarly, I'm sure there were many Shaq haters down in Miami before he came to town. Now they all love him. Shaq the person, is a dolt, Shaq the player, I would think that any fan would love to have him on their team. Not to mention all the coaches and players that would love to have him too.

That's not at all the same thing as liking him. That's tolerating him being an *** because he can give you something you want. Doesn't mean that if he were a King and he said "tell Kobe's wife that I'd be happy to comfort her the next time he is off with a teenage girl in another state" that I would say "you tell 'em Shaq!". No. He'd still be an ***.

P.S. I did not mind Shaq before he arrived in L.A.. Was a fun physical force to watch coming out of college. That was before the ego grew totally out of control. The diarhetic mouth, etc..

I should have said "cheer" for him rather than "love" him, because there were definately many Laker fans that didn't personally like him, but loved what he brought to their team.

I'm sorry, but to me he will always be:

The Large Living Room Suite (with occasional tables, standing halogen lamp, area rugs, sleeper sofa, two recliners, ceiling fan, lined drapes, overstuffed chair with matching ottoman, entertainment center, framed picture of Don Johnson and Philip-Michael Thomas, multiple HD-TVs, chauffeur-driven golf cart for room-to-room transport, in-house catering service AND framed pictures of his feet)

There are aspects about Shaq that are very likeable, such as being very juvenile. Okay, that's only likeable from afar.

Here's what I do like about Shaq - He totally and thoroughly humiliated Lakers and Laker fans with that trade! It's been my experience that Laker fans have never admitted to hating Shaq before that trade. I have seen many a Laker fan try to persuade the masses that trading Shaq was a good thing, denial at best and the epitome of myopia. Shaq's trade exposed much about the Laker organization and their fans. But I digress...

I never liked Shaq when he played against us, who can forget him breaking B-Jax's hand with that no-call on Christmas Day 2002?

But I sure like him a whole lot more now that he only a threat twice a year. He's not really a rival anymore, that's for the Laker's to deal with now...

The ONLY thing I'm ever going to like about Shaq will be on Christmas Day, when I fully and completely expect him to take out all his frustrations on the annoying little gnat wearing #8 for the Lakers. I'm thinking O'Neal has already sent a blank check to Stern, telling him to fill in whatever amount he wants as a fine AFTER the game.

:D

Oh yeah, Christmas Day 2004. How I look forward to Christmas Day 2004!!!!

Stern: "I'm sorry to report: Shaq becomes the first NBA player to have commited a felony while actually on the court".
