[Game] Preseason Game 4: Kings vs. Warriors, 12/17/2020, 6:00pm PST, 9:00pm EST

Exactly—look at the roster composition; Bagley is not playing center, hanging out in the dunker spot. Monte does not value the center position at $11M next season, let alone Bagley’s 5th option at $14M. Bagley will play power forward this year. If he shows superstar promise there, then he is...

[Game] Preseason Game 4: Kings vs. Warriors, 12/17/2020, 6:00pm PST, 9:00pm EST

With Vivek, the GM only gets one chance to make a coaching change, if the GM even gets to hire his own coach at all. Monte needs to keep his powder dry until the person he really wants is available. If Monte makes a mid-season move he’ll end up with Gentry as the interim and could very easily...

Vivek voted worst NBA team governor

Because Vivek is worse at his job than those guys. People may not like the off-court things they say or do, but they are better at their actual job than Vivek. Vlade hiring Luke was the first time one of Vivek’s GMs hired the coach instead of Vivek.

Vivek voted worst NBA team governor

A lot of folks are over thinking this. This is poll of industry insiders on who is the worst owner for basketball operations. Agents don’t care if you say the right off-court things, they care if your basketball ops is going to make their client look good on the court and pay them accordingly...

    Welcome Tyrese Haliburton

Can we just use “Junior” as a nickname since he plays so much like Doug, and Doug is on the broadcast?

    Forecasting Bagley

I’ll just keep repeating—McNair is not paying $14M for a center, which is what Bagley will cost next year. Bagley either shows an inkling of being a superstar big wing/power forward or he gets traded in the offseason. If Bagley is a center, it won’t be for the Kings.

    Welcome Tyrese Haliburton

Did a great job of disrupting passing lanes last night.

    Goodbye Harry

Once fans are back in the arena, and Portland comes to town, the Kings better put together a tribute video for Harry.

    Following 2021 Prospects:

More regarding Mobley—Ford had the Athletic’s Tony Jones on and both men rated Mobley as their #3 overall prospect, but they also both have him as a PF. It seems that, in their opinion, since Mobley can handle a little bit and the offense can be run through him, he is de rigeur a PF. It seems...

    Following 2021 Prospects:

I was listening to Chad Ford’s podcast and he has Mobley as a 4/5, which I find incredulous. I think Ford has really refined his evaluations, but I don’t see Mobley as a 4, at all, in today’s game. I think he’s the very rare guy who can play with his back to the basket, but still cover any...

[KINGS] Comments that don't warrant their own thread (Redux)

Agree. It’s not hard to imagine McNair accomplishing this type of deal, but not this target. I also don’t see him trading more than two 1sts. I think the profile McNair will be going after is a midcareer fringe All-Star, or better, who has at least two years left on his rookie max extension...

    Following 2021 Prospects:

USC is continuing one of my favorite college basketball traditions: a lottery big man shackled to absolutely horrible guards that look off said big man for 5-6 minute chunks of game time. It’s always fun. Unfortunately, Mobley needs an older guard that’s going to force feed him the ball. He...

Smart Like A Fox: De’Aaron Is Here To Stay (Interview with Carmichael Dave)

Fox is extremely smart, and has a preternatural understanding of the business of the NBA—the game within the game. We will put together a consistent winner with Fox as the foundation. I can understand Vivek’s decision in the summer of 2018. Fox will reel in that supernova star soon—a free...

    Woj: Kings let Bogi go

And Bogi is going to love watching Trae dribble.

    Following 2021 Prospects:

Hurt is going to make it harder to evaluate Johnson. Hurt just stops the ball and throws up horrible shots, and is an absolute sieve on defense. I doubt Coach K gets it squared away—he has a history of allowing inferior players with seniority to dominate the offense. Hurt’s the worst example...

    Forecasting Bagley

Bagley may eventually become a 5, but it won’t be with us. Looking at what McNair did in free agency, it does not appear he’d be enthused with paying Bagley’s $14M option to play the 5, never mind a healthy raise from that to extend him beyond his rookie contract. It would appear that Bagley...

    Following 2021 Prospects:

Cade Cunningham feels a lot like Glenn Robinson to me. Meaning, if you’re the GM sitting at #1, then Cunningham is clearly your choice; you’ll never get criticized for it. In fact, to not take him would be pretty indefensible at the time. And yet, you’re pretty sure there’s at least 2, maybe...

    Forecasting Bagley

Yeah, I agree. I think, for us, he either becomes a star-level (near max) power forward this season or gets traded. Because his next two options, as the #2 pick, are high dollar by themselves. If traded, I don’t really know what happens after that. I’d guess big stats on mediocre teams. I’m...

RJ doing a solid for his boy Luke...don’t worry about it.

    Following 2021 Prospects:

I see what you mean with Ziare Williams—really great potential. Looks a little Lamar Odom or Toni Kukoc—massively skilled swiss army knife that could probably score 25 a night but fits in perfectly with the flow of a championship contender. Disagree on Green. He looks a legit 6’5”-6’6”...
