NBA and Nike ban ninja style headbands

I don't know about that. I just read an ESPN article about Odell Beckham Jr wearing a $200,000 watch during games. And I remember Michael Crabtree and Aqub Talib getting ejected after a fight when Talib ripped off Crabtree's big chain necklace.

It's not that Nike doesn't like the 24-second clock, it's just that they see the massive marketing potential of a Jordan Brand 23 second clock . . .

Marvin Bagley III makes All-Rookie 1st team

Bagley had a better rookie season than Bosh who was an all-star in his third year. If Bagley stays healthy and keeps improving I think he can definitely do the same.

A little work out with Fox:

Oh, clearly he's gained muscle. What I was referring to were reports that he's even faster now with that added muscle.

A little work out with Fox:

summer It's summer which means everybody has "put on 12 lbs of muscle" and every big has "developed a reliable 3pt shot" so every report has to be taken with a grain of salt but the word from the Team USA practices was that with the added muscle Fox was somehow even faster than before.

Allegations against Luke Walton (split from new coach thread)

The Sac Bee article (here) has essentially the same details. One small difference is that the Bee article mentions that since Tennant refused to cooperate, the investigators relied on her public statements and details from her lawsuit. Obviously, I don't know what happened and being cleared is...

De’Aaron promoted to Team USA Main Roster.

I think that very well could have been the biggest factor. Sure, guys can get hurt at any time (see Garcia, Francisco) and Fox might be at more risk of being the 2nd NBA player with a diagnosed case of Nintendonits (shoutout to the L-Train!) than a freak Paul George injury, but I really believe...

    The All-Purpose LOL Lakers thread

Really, this roster construction is about as head-scratching as what the Lakers did last year. No SFs? Putting their only good young player (Kuzma) on the bench so AD can start at PF? A bunch of old or mediocre shooting guards? The best lineup the Lakers could roll out to maximize the players...

De’Aaron promoted to Team USA Main Roster.

Technically the only cuts have been Thaddeus Young and Bam Adebayo.

De’Aaron promoted to Team USA Main Roster.

Or it could simply be that he didn't see the value in practicing FIBA rules, running a system that he won't run in the NBA and having a lack of floor time when he's being viewed as a third or fourth string player. I have no idea, I'm just speculating. But if that was the case, there's a lot more...

De’Aaron promoted to Team USA Main Roster.

It could also be that Bagley realized (or was told) that it was unlikely that he'd make the final 12 and decided to move on a bit early.

    Projected rotation

I think the most interesting part of the rotation will be Harry Giles' role next season. Barring injury I don't see how the starting lineup isn't Fox, Hield, Barnes, Bagley, and Dedmon. Joseph, Bogdan, and Ariza will be the backups at PG, SG, and SF. But how the coaches decide who gets...

Kings sign Dedmon 3 years 40 million

Willie isn't wrong. Dedmon does fit better for what the Kings want. The shotblocking is part of it but the outside shooting is the more important piece. I was actually in favor of bringing Willie back on a reasonable contract but the reality is that if the Kings want to start Bagley they...

    Kings add more asst coaches

Great hires IMO. I'm particularly happy about Lindsey Harding as I think she's going to be fantastic. Rico Hines is more of a networking signing I think but there's nothing wrong with that.

    Westbrook traded to Houston

To be fair, Presti had an MVP candidate to trade to a very motivated Clippers team. But yes, it's been very impressive. And his record in the draft is significantly better than Hinkie's.

    Westbrook traded to Houston

I wonder if it's actually the opposite. That Presti had his hand forced in the PG trade and that a rebuild was inevitable and THEN the part owner decided it was time to cut bait since the Thunder would be struggling for a few down years.

    Westbrook traded to Houston

I think it's more likely than not that they make the playoffs but I don't know that I'd go so far to say "easily". PG Curry SG Russell SF McKinnie or Robinson III PF Green C Looney That lineup is not going to strike fear in opponents. Off the bench would be Burks, WCS, whoever doesn't...

    Westbrook traded to Houston

It's a shortsighted deal by Miami (they will have no draft picks and a 36 year old CP3 making $44 million) but Pat Riley tends to make those. But I think the most likely scenario in that case is that the Thunder actually send one or more draft picks to Miami to get a deal done. And that the...

    Westbrook traded to Houston

My understanding is that Harden is the one that pushed for the move. How much of that was wanting to play with Westbrook vs not wanting to play with Paul I don't know, but the report is that he was in favor of the trade. That's a good point about goodwill. Presti did right by both of his stars...

    Westbrook traded to Houston

Both Harden and Westbrook have led the league in usage at different times. Harden did so last season in fact. So one big question is whether he'll be more willing to share the ball with Russ than he was with CP3. I'd actually guess that he would be as Chris Paul and Harden didn't really mesh on...
