Kings picking 13th overall (formerly the draft lotto thread)

Now you're just arguing to argue. You asked if the CBA allowed teams to sign-and-trade a player during this period. The answer is no. If Monk wanted a sign-and-trade it wouldn't be announced as a re-signing now because turning it into a sign-and-trade would be clear evidence of tampering. Period.

Kings picking 13th overall (formerly the draft lotto thread)

No, it isn't. It would clearly represent tampering and the league would have every right to void the deal.

    And the answer is no.

Riccardo Fois joins Kings coaching staff.

Haha. I thought the EXACT same thing.

Bulls trade proposal sends Zach LaVine to Kings

Hopefully Monk re-signing puts the nail in the coffin of any possible LaVine trade for the Kings.

What's he going to say? How about "**** you Monte, I'll take more money and likely my choice of a couple teams vs being forced to go to New Orleans." In short, we'd get nothing and burn bridges with not only Monk and his agent(s) but make any other player think twice before agreeing to ever...

    Monk is back!!!!!!!!

Let's not even look at on/off splits or +/-. The most telling stat is the VAST improvement of the team defense once Keon was inserted into the starting lineup. The Kings defensive rating went from 118 to 108. I've gone back and watched Keon's first few games as a starter. He is an...

    Potential Free agent/trade/sign tracker

I'm already on record as not wanting any part of Miles Bridges. But just from a cap perspective, we can't get him "cheap". If reports are to be believed, Charlotte is interested in signing him to a contract starting around $20M per year. If he wants more than that, they'll explore...

    Following Potential *2024* Draftees

I think you're right. The confusion was that he quoted sactowndog's post, which was about Chomche.

    Following Potential *2024* Draftees

Capt is right that he never played in the G League though he was at the G League Showcase back in December. He's been playing in the NBA Academy in Africa. He's extremely raw at this point. Some team will gamble on him somewhere between the late first and middle of the 2nd round, but I...

What will it take to get better internally

This. We saw this the season before with KZ Okpala and Matthew Dellavedova (and to a lesser extent Chima Moneke). Coaches like to have "their guys" when they can, especially when they help reinforce the culture the coach is trying to establish. This worked out somewhat with Dellavedova, but not...

Kings picking 13th overall (formerly the draft lotto thread)

Mogbo is an intriguing name at #45. He has an intriguing set of skills and tools, but I don't know if he's playable on the NBA level without any semblance of a shot. I wouldn't be happy with Edey or Ware at #13, but I'd be okay-ish with either in a trade down scenario. Edey will very likely be...

    Potential Free agent/trade/sign tracker

I just don't see Ingram as a good fit, and that's before we get to his cost being prohibitive. He's a relatively high usage scorer who operates heavily in the midrange and doesn't improve the team defensively either as a man or team defender. For a Kings team that already has to work around...

What will it take to get better internally

I guess then I'm "loudly" excited about Keon. He completely transformed the defense for the Kings while providing enough shooting and offense to not be a liability on that end. If the Kings could find the PF version of him to fill out the starting five around Keon, Fox, Keegan, and Domas then...

I do think some added lower body strength will help his shooting from deep.

    Potential Free agent/trade/sign tracker

Right. That's the only way a Grant deal makes sense - if they are looking to clean up their cap going forward. If the Blazers want equal talent (in addition to having to match salary) then it essentially removes him as a trade target for the Kings. But IF Portland wants to move off that deal...

Kings picking 13th overall (formerly the draft lotto thread)

There are a number of guys projected around the Kings pick that I either like more and/or am less worried about than some of the consensus top 10 guys. Bub Carrington is definitely one. And on the other side, I wouldn't want any part of Reed Sheppard, Donovan Clingan, Rob Dillingham, or...

Cleveland Cavaliers Urged To Pull Off Major NBA Draft Trade With Kings

I mentioned this in a different thread, but Sam Vecenie's off-season preview for the Kings had them trading Barnes, Huerter, Lyles, Vezenkov, Mitchell, and Duarte along with #13 to get Kuzma and LaVine. Oh, and they lost Monk in free agency. If that came to pass I think I'd just nope out of...

    Potential Free agent/trade/sign tracker

That's a bit of a hard sell for me if I'm the Spurs front office. You have $21 million in cap room and want to spend it all on a guy who won't start? Not to mention, that's not much of a raise from what the Kings can offer and he'd be in the same role as a 6th man. I wonder if Monk would want that.
