    Kings hire Luke Walton

I'd rather have Barnes than Bogs, so I'm not too concerned about saving $ for Bogs to keep Barnes. Barnes is a better defender and rebounder. And I think he's a more consistent outside shooter who doesn't need to dribble, dribble, dribble to be effective on offense. I still see Bogs as a...

Barnes did attend the Walton presser.

    JaVale McGee

I'm sold on Vuc on offense, but I haven't seen enough of him to be certain of him on defense. If the Kings are going to pay that kind of $$$ for him, they've got to get a two-way player. I'm sitting on the fence right now...

    J. Randle

I agree about his potential. My memory of him was when he was in better shape and a better player. Walton has talked a lot so far about working at the game and establishing a relationship with his players. After listening to Walton, I'd be very suprised if he didn't have a good conversation...

    Joerger Status. (He’s Fired)

You misunderstand the dynamic. It's not a "yes, sir" military style hierarchy, it's a flatter, "we vs. me" dynamic. Seeing eye to eye is trusting and understanding one another and seeing the game similarly, not an obsequious suck up relationship between coach and GM.

    JaVale McGee

Maybe the Kings are going have center by committee next year. Maybe they'll have three guys who can play that position (four, if you include Bagley). Vuc seems like a long shot to me, but if you add a guy like McGee and some other lower priced complementary center types who are competitive, it...

    J. Randle

It's funny you mentioned Swanigan. I'm hoping that Walton (and Divac) talks to him about getting in the best shape of life for training camp. Find him a great personal trainer and commit him to working on lowering his body fat, getting into super shape, and working on certain elements of his...

    J. Randle

And WCS doesn't match up with the Adam's or the Harrell's of this league, so WCS is no answer to the problem. The Kings need beef at the center position. We've got the lithe athletic types in Bagley and Giles, and now we need some complementary beef.

    J. Randle

They may not drop it to their center, but there is a whole lot of lobbing it to their center, and it just wouldn't work with Randle. I like him as a player, but not on this team.

    Joerger Status. (He’s Fired)

You are sooooooooooooooo wrong on this one (and those who agreed with you). I bet I had many more positive reviews of Joerger's coaching than negative over the course of his tenure. I really think you must be confusing me with someone else. Either that or you're just paying attention to my...

    Joerger Status. (He’s Fired)

The more I read these articles and mull over the Divac comments and the season in general, the more I wonder about Joerger. I wanted to like the guy, I really did. I saw some good coaching from him. In particular, I thought after Vlade made the mid-season trade I thought Joerger got the team...

    C/PF off season discussion

Napear keeps talking about D. Jordan in FA. He's only 30, which for a center isn't old. Could be a good stop-gap for the next three years. He can still play D and rebound and his free throw shooting isn't a problem anymore. If the Kings do go after him in FA, it's a sign they believe Bagley...

There was no rush. It was planned, maybe for a quite a while. Planning isn't rushing.

    Kings hire Luke Walton

You don't even know how many games will be required to get to the playoffs. You don't know what the off-season moves are going to be from the Kings or from the competing teams in the western conference. You also don't what's going to happen with injuries. The Kings could get 46 wins next...

    Kings hire Luke Walton

As far as I know, you're the first one to bring this up, and I think it has some merit. In his first game as a King with basically no "Kings' coaching" whatsoever, Burks was the most efficient offensive player on the floor against Miami, scoring on 4 out 5 from the field. Afterwards, when...

    Kings hire Luke Walton

Kerr loves him. Stan Van Gundy loves him. Rondo loves him. Vlade loves him (and he's reportedly loved him for many years). That's good enough for me. The only question about firing Joerger was who would replace him. There's no question in my mind that before Vlade fired Joerger he knew...

Which means that John Wooden has not only influenced Bill, but undoubtedly Luke as well. There is absolutely nothing bad in that.

    Joerger Status. (He’s Fired)

I thought he really dodged Grant's question: When did you first have indications you might be let go as the Kings' coach? I highly doubt that Joerger was shocked at the outcome. In his interview he sure didn't sound like a guy who didn't see it coming from a long ways off.

Better pick? Doncic or Bagley? split from Vlade thread ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK

That is a fairly stunning fact. We see the highlights on ESPN, but not the misses. It would be something if Marvin ends up shooting as good or better than Doncic from 3.

Walton fired by Lakers; Kings make offer (merged)

There could have been a push-pull thing going on. Vlade said he really started thinking about a coaching move after the All Star break, which was when Walton became dead man walking. P.S. Vlade also seemed to intimate that he did have *some* critical thoughts on Joerger prior to the break.
