New Kings Starting 5 will be....

I have a feeling this team is going to be alot different come preseason. With free agency comming upon is in 2 days Im going to throw out what i think would be a Solid starting five considering our pieces and who's available in free agency. Feel free to throw out your predictions and YOUR Potential Starting 5.

First order of bussiness, Since we now have our NEW SG McLemore We can Get rid of tyreke. No way we Keep him now because he is not a PG or a SF, reke is a SG and we now have one who i think will be alot better..with that being said...

C - Demarcus Cousins
PF- Tyler Hansbrough (FA)
SF- Andre Iguodala (FA) or COREY BREWER (FA)
SG- Ben McLemore
PG- Jarret Jack (FA)

We would have to Amnesty Salmons, Sign and Trade Tyreke or not match whatever he gets offered. Also find a way to get rid of Hayes and Jimmer..

I think this roster is going to be completely different within a few seasons and i cant wait to see what coach and GM put together...A starting five like the one above would be very good on both ends of the floor. I think Hansbrough would be great next to Demarcus. and Even if we cant get IGGY, sign Corey Brewer, he's gettin better every year and our GM knows him very well. I also would like to sign Jarret Jack as our point guard. Free Agents Jack/Brewer/hansbrough would all come at bargain prices as Free Agents and would be great additions to the team.

Your thoughts??:D

I wouldn't mind getting Iggy if we didn't have Evans, which I see you don't. Not a huge fan of Jack though, and Hansbrough is "meh". I would rather IT start. I think IT gets into the offense much quicker than Jack does. It would help MLM if he doesn't have to run around without the ball, and can just catch and shoot.

Step 1: Use Amnesty Provision on John Salmons
Step 2: Trade SG Marcus Thornton and PF Patrick Patterson to CHI for Taj Gibson
Step 3: Sign Andrei Kirilenko or Dorell Wright to 3 year deal
Step 4: Re-sign Tyreke Evans to 4 year deal
Step 5: Sign Matt Barnes or SF filler to 2 year deal
Step 6: Re-sign Cole Aldrich or 4/5 filler to 1 year deal

C: Cousins/Hayes/Aldrich
PF: Gibson/Thompson
SF: Kirilenko/Barnes/Outlaw
PG: Evans/Thomas/McCallum
SG: McLemore/Fredette

Looks good, even though I'm not sure how that all could happen with the cap. You'd have to have a few people take discounted deals.

I'd try to get a little more out of Chicago as I think Thornton/Patterson is worth a little more than we are thinking. Maybe have them toss in a pick or Snell who we liked so much. Or we send back Outlaw as well to clear a little more space.

GIbson for Thornton intrigues the hell out of me. Gibson grades out as a top tier defensive PF and that deal actually makes some sense for both teams

How about this one;

C - Cousins
PF - Thompson
SF - Iggy
SG - McLemore
PG - General Greivis

That looks good as an up and coming team.. We would have IT off the bench with PP and maybe we should sign Barnes or something to come off the bench. Not sure if he would want to though.

Actually, I don't know why Gibson didn't occur to me until I saw that brought up a few posts before me

The guy is absolutely perfect. Dude defends EVERYTHING at an extremely high level, he's a shotblocker for you goobers who live and die by BPG, and he knows how to stay out of the way offensively. Sign. Me. Up.

Yeah, I think if you could swap MT for Gibson and then find any way to trim the Hayes/Outlaw salaries (even if it meant sending for any expiring deals out there-regardless of player quality), that would be a great start. I'd still try to sign Evans to a 9-10M deal, patch holes and then have a ton of cap space plus a pick in next years great draft. You could decide whether to keep both Thompson and Patterson or swap one for another piece as well.

In 2014 you could either wave Salmons and only pay the $1M or use that as an attractive trade piece. You'd potentially have 20-25 M in cap space with a good core group

I am not generally a fan of these projected lineups with wish list trades, but I have to admit...I like this! I especially like the idea of bringing Matt Barnes back. Just don't know if he'd meet the "character" criteria.

i actually had the same starting lineup in my other thread, except i wanted to trade for jared dudley and put him as our starting SF.

PG: Tyreke
SG: Mclemore
SF: Dudley
PF: Gibson
C : Cousins

Taj Gibson did cross my mind a couple of times but always wondered if he is a starter on a good team material or a great 3rd big off the bench on a great team.

Have been a fan of Gibson ever since his draft year! Very solid PF!

He could work next to Cousins at PF with JT coming off the bench as a 3rd big! I wouldn't mind that. Thornton for Gibson does make sense for both teams!

On the topic of cap space with the above lineup, we'd save about 2M if we did the exact deal I outline above, PPat and Thornton for Gibson. If we Amnesty Salmons, that saves another, say, $7.5M. So right now, in addition to any money we save for signing Tyreke for less than about 12M, we have $9.5. If we sign 'Reke for 9M we would be left with about 2-3M against the cap from the other cap holds we lose from Aldrich and Douglas, so now our number is 3M+9.5M or 12.5M or so. That, IMO, would be enough to sign AK (I'd start him around 8-8.5 a year for 3 years), our draft picks (pre-determined at around 3M for 1st/2nd combined), and cap filler at the 3 or 4.

Two notes: VF brings up a good point about Barnes' maturity and character, but I will say as a local guy who has spent several of his more recent NBA years with playoff contenders he might grow up a little finding a role as a "leader" with this crew. He does seem calmer and more of a "role player" these days, and as he eclipses into his mid-30s he may not mind coming back to his hometown to finish his career on a discount deal. Also, as I slept on this deal, it made me think that while I love a player like AK, a scoring presence with length like Dorell might be more sensible, and he'd also cost around 2-3M less per year. Also, Dorell is somewhat younger and if I did my math right, might know Malone and his system from his last year in GS. I love AK and his makeup, but interesting to think of the potential of a Cousins/Gibson/Wright/Evans/McLemore lineup too, with a bench cadre of JT/IT/Jimmer/Barnes/Hayes. A nice 10-11 that I feel could compete on most nights, with 2-3 pure scorers (Wright/McLemore/Jimmer), 2-3 defensive specialists (Gibson/Hayes), 2-3 players with some combo of both (IT/Evans/JT, even Barnes) and our beloved wildcard, DMC. McCallum and Outlaw round off the group for deep bench. We do lose expiring money, which is something else to consider in the event of re-signing DMC, but the team is vastly improved.

I could do with Taj Gibson at PF over thompson or Hansbrough. I forgot about Gibson too. The main thing i disagree with most kings fans is Tyreke. Its not that i dont like the guy, but He is not a PG or a SF, he is a damn SG!! We need a good PG that can facillitate the ball and can shoot. We cannot have tyreke as our PG it will not WORK!! I hope it does happen so the fans can see that we need a Real PG to run the show. If we didnt draft McLemore then I would be happy to keep tyreke and he would be our Starting SG. But I firmly believe that McLemore is going to be better then Reke so therefore we should not retain Reke

If we could go into the new season with a starting 5 of...

Evans
BMac
Iggy or AK47
PPat or JT
Big Cuz

I would... well I dont know what id do. Some massive gesture of ultra excitement and happiness.

Im going to sit here day-dreaming about this team for a while before I come back to reality I think.

You better let D'Alessandro know, I'm not sure if he's aware of your opinion on this.

ill make it easy...

PG - Tyreke/IT/McCallum
SG - Bmore/Jimmer
SF - IGGY/outlaw
PF - Patterson/JT/Chuck
C - Cus/Cole

S&T with denver sending them thorton, cole on a 1 yr deal...maybe we need another SF(maybe a undrafted FA(james southerland please or we bring back cisco on 1yr deal)). we amnesty john salmons...if i could i would try to replace Jimmer with a better defensive SG and someone with better size next to IT.
