Donte Greene; 3:33

Or maybe coach is doing his best to keep it in house. Just because Donte isn't playing, and there most likely is a reason for it which the public doesn't know about, doesn't mean Westphal has to come out and inform the media about what is happening behind the scenes.
He must understand how it looks though when you go from announcing a player as a starter to DNP-CD in 3 games. Sometimes I think Coach just looks at the press as the enemy and not as a source of information for fans (they're probably both). IDK but I think I'm getting to the point where I just don't like PW. I never ever felt this way about Adelman, but I find myself trying to squash these feelings about PW daily.

As much as we would all like to know, it really isn't our business why Donte isn't playing. I have no problem with Westphal censoring what info the public gets a hold of, especially with such a young team, and with writers like Voison who rehash problems to no end.

Sometimes when I think of this issue - I think maybe PW is trying to motivate Donte Greene. Maybe he felt Donte wasn't going as hard as he could - or Donte was just worn out from his losing weight that he needed the rest to regenerate.

.... and this board. Keep on winning. Donte will be heard from again whether I like it or not.

So maybe the press gives him reasons. Anyway our hopes rest on PW being a genius puppet master.

*ahem*

"There is no problem with Donte," the coach said of Greene, who started at small forward in the season-opener but has been replaced by Casspi. "There are only so many minutes. We had so many bigs out.

"I’ve found out Luther and Darnell can come off the bench with energy and I don’t need Omri to come off with his energy. But it’s nothing Donte has done. Right now, Omri is the answer to the equation. It’s more of the contributions of Luther and Darnell than it is a slam on Donte."

I can't wait to see how Cousins is going to guard the likes of Dirk. Since he doesn't want to put in Donte for that role, I'm sure Dalembert will be assigned to that job.

From Twitter a little bit ago

This is the only time I can think of where Donte has retweeted and then didn't add his own thoughts at the end with a hyphen or something. Read into that what you will.

RT @sacgirl88: @dontegreeneCOS I hope that you are able to get some pt tommorrow night during the home opener--lol nite!

I know one thing, airing out your dirty laundry and passively complaining(by re-tweeting) about playing time on twitter will NOT help the situation. If you ask me, Donte spends way too much time on twitter given his utter lack of success so far this season.

If I really cared about my job,and what people thought of me, and my boss sent me a strong message teling me I wasn't doing well enough, I would do everything in my power to make it appear I take my job extremely seriously, and am doing everthing possible to improve my performance. Putting it on twitter just doesn't send that great of a message to management. Last year Spencer was suspended for saying something about a lack of playing time to the Bee. I forgot exactly what he said, but he was suspended for not keeping it in house. Not sure coach would be pleased if he found out, and it just isn't a risk I would have taken in his situation.

I guess Omri, Reke, JT, Boogie, Carl, LeBron, Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony, Steve Nash, and a bunch of other people are slackers too. (Notice I didn't include Shaq because he's fat and out of shape).

No,I just think he should tone it down a bit given his current situation.

Ditto! Maybe the head coach thinks Donte Greene is not all that smart - but doesn't want to come right out and say it. As a teammate and now bench warmer maybe Coach Paul in front of the media presents something of a smoke screen whenever Donte's name comes up. He's not a flake - even if he is. He's totally NBA focused as a dedicated professional - even if he's not. He's a very talented NBA basketball player - even if he's really not. I think Kings organization wants to make sure Greene remains some kind of viable (if growing less valuable) trade bait.

Because he's an idiot. Him and Thompson are the dumbest players i've seen in the last 10 years. I can see why they are such good friends.
That's okay for now.

Keep them underachieving and complacent and at the same time happy with each other wearing the Kings uniform. Time comes for their next contract signing and they'll probably come cheaper. We will be needing some super-scrub BIGS anyways to fill-up the line-up. We will need both players in the future. Both are way better than what we've had before (in Mikki Moore and Sean May).:p

I don't know if the Kings are entertaining the idea of trading Donte or not. But you certainly don't want to devalue your product with public statements about all of his warts. Something is obviously going on between Westphal and Greene, and I doubt were going to find out what it is, even if Greene is traded. Unless it comes from Greene of course. Petrie is a very close mouthed GM that doesn't believe in burning bridges or denigrating departing players. But one thing is clear. You don't go from being awarded the starting SF spot to not playing at all, simply because Luther Head hit a few three pointers. Nope, something smells in the kingdom.

Watching how they attempted to defend Bargnani, I can't say I am too excited about that matchup.

We'll get an answer today if it's really like Westpall is saying.. cause Donte needs to be 2nd in line and this game for his defensive game on Kobe and see some major minutes.

Let's hope he does get a chance to play, and that he will light the place up when he does and get himself back on track.

Exactly. Speculate all you will, but without knowing the facts; it's near pointless talking about it. Something significant happened and it seems odd to me to pick a side when we're ignorant to the details.

KHTK radio talking heads just said following Kings-Lakers game that Donte is odd man out. Nothing personal, it's a numbers game and he has fallen behind others - Casspi, DJax, Cisco, etc. Claim the kid is not in the doghouse, but they're not sure exactly why he has not played lately except that other Kings are producing - so again, Greene is odd man out. Also, said when he gets back in rotation, whenever that is, hopefully he produces - he better!

Greene just needs to get in shape to play the 3 position. He sure as hell is not going to stay on the team if he wants to be a 4 or 5 given our line up.

I would be curious to hear the definition of "producing" as it applies to this mythical other guys we have.

I would also like to call B.S., because you don't start the opener (a game we won even), and then go straight to 12th man status for the rest of the season without a fairly drastic trigger.

Well, Coach was just taken aback by the talent provided by Antoine Wright at back-up back-up 3

This is really starting to tick me off. How is he the odd man out? What has Head earned in this organization, hit a couple 3's? How has Jackson earned his minutes, played one good game?

I don't know why i'm so confused about this. The same thing happened last year, I found myself wondering why Greene wasn't getting many minutes. But now this is just crazy. Something happened personally between Greene and Westphal, there is no other explaination for this.

I was really looking forward to the 2 headed monster of Casspi and Greene. Even if they weren't "monsters", i was hoping only they would get minutes this year at SF, and we could see what we have in them. Hey, maybe it will get more towards that. I'd rather see Greene than Cisco there due to his size.

To be honest, I'm starting to suspect substance issues that the Kings want to keep private. Substance likely as in pot. Perhaps the brass caught wind, so to speak, of Donte smoking. Perhaps they have a no weed policy. ??? Just guessing here, but it wouldn't surprise me. But there of course absolutely has to be non basketball related reasons why Donte has fallen off the radar. Odd man out my ***.

That's what happened to the Giants this year in the playoffs. Guillen was using HGH, and they "asked" bochy to take him off the roster. Cody Ross was his replacement, and history was made.

Also, atleast when we're giving Beno and Casspi a break, can we please just try Tyreke/Garcia/Greene instead of Head/Tyreke/Garcia.

The fact that Donte won SF job to start season after having it totally up in the air during preseason means "something" happened since - no doubt. The odd man out theory may have to do with the fact that he was 1-7 FG and 2-8 FT in that first game one point Kings W at Minny. I just always remember Coach Paul saying over and over last season that minutes on his Kings team are earned in practice and in games, and lost the same way. I'm much, much less into blasting coach over this one than I am seeing reality of out of shape and out of rotation probably for good reason Donte. Like I said before, when he gets back into the rotation (maybe following someone else's slump or unfortunate injury) he better produce consistently, something he's simply never done at all in his NBA career.

Would you feel the same way if he got 5 more DNP's in a row?
