Ok.. time for a quick copy and paste from last year's thread...

This is year nine of the KingsFans "Official" Fantasy Basketball League, a weekly scoring league that has been run since before KingsFans has been KingsFans.

• If you'd like to join the league, just post here in the thread or send me a PM. (Note: People in the league last year get first option. Then comes people who've played in the past (but not last year), and finally there's usually room for KingsFans members who've never played in this league before but want to join now.) Let me know as soon as possible if you want in to make sure you get a spot if one's available.
  
  
• I'm the commissioner by default. Decisions are generally made by whichever preference is voiced most among those who pipe up, with ties and initial settings going to what we've done before. (And I'm always willing to cede commissionerification duties to any regular who'd like the job.)
  
  
• The current draft time is set for Sat Oct 24 3:30pm PDT. As always, that is open to change if there are better times for everybody. Again please let me know your suggestions earlier rather than later. It is usually difficult to get a time that most people can agree on, though, so don't expect it to change (this is the time we've done it each of the last few years).
  
  
• If you were in this league last year, hopefully you have been sent an invite. Please sign up or let me know that you don't plan on signing up so I can decide how many others to allow in and make sure we have an even number of teams.
  
  
• Deadline for existing players to sign up or let me know you plan to sign up is: Mon Oct 13 12:00pm PDT. After that time you can still probably get in the league, but I will start giving away spots to others so there is no guarantee.
  
  
• We've had anywhere from 10-16 teams in this league over the last few years. Even though the max teams is set to 20, we don't usually get that many. I'd like to get closer to 16 than 10, but it all depends on how many people sign up. So for those of you who prefer more or fewer teams, please express your interest either way and we'll wait to see how it plays out.

Yup! This is a weekly league. Get your lineup changes in by Sunday night for the following week. Don't be like me and come into work every Monday morning then smack yourself on the head as you see that you forgot to set your roster again!

So rather than turning people away, if there are enough interested people, and they politely come in pairs, I vote load 'em on up. Deep leagues separate the men from the boys anyway (and no, there does not appear to be a non-sexist way to phrase that -- the humans from the...other younger humans?).

I agree... I haven't turned anybody away and have even been nudging old-timers to see if they'd come back.

At this point, I think we're pretty much set on who's coming back. We've got 12 teams enrolled. If deekay2o9 and SacKings7 come in that's 14.

I'd love to have more so if anybody is interested post here or PM me.

Not much time has to be committed at all. If you can make the draft (which I think we might change to 3:30 since nobody has objected), then you spend a couple hours on that. You can spend time ranking your players or using the Yahoo default rankings. If you can't make the draft the system drafts for you. The default rankings and autodraft aren't too bad, I almost won a few years ago with both default rankings and an autodraft. But it's still more fun if you can participate.

Once you have your team, then you spend maybe 10-15 minutes a week minimum to keep completely updated. Since this is a weekly league, you only have to check every Saturday or Sunday to really stay on top of things. Basically you make sure you don't have anybody starting who is injured, and if you have players who are crappier than expected you drop them and grab somebody else you think might be good. Obviously some people spend more than 10-15 minutes a week, but I think that's all you need to compete and have fun. And if you miss a week here or there it doesn't usually cause any problems.

There are a lot more details about "how this works" we can share if you're curious. It's not too complicated, but I don't want to write a tome unless you'd like me to.
