NO SPOILERS means don't post about picks/deals/etc. before they get announced on the official telecast.

If you would like to post spoilers, use the Omega Thread, where I will be unashamedly be mass posting Shams Bombs for all of our enjoyment.

Also, let's try and keep this thread Kings draft related (unless we wind up trading our pick for OG or something).

Going to be a very telling draft on Monte’s draft acumen. Most of his 1st round picks to date have been low risk picks. He has not hit on a single 2nd round pick despite having several.

Tonight’s selections will go a long way to defining his ability to separate the wheat from the chaff.

There was an interesting discussion about Woj on the Press Box podcast the other day (highly recommend that podcast if you’re interested in sports and the media, by the way). They thought it made sense given that scooping draft picks helped him build his brand when he was an upstart at Yahoo taking on ESPN, but now that he’s in the fold at ESPN, he can add more value by being a bigger part of their draft coverage covering the big trades and the like. There are plenty of others in the draft scoop game now, and the value of scooping a pick is pretty limited anyway since the scoop only lasts for a minute or two before the pick is televised anyway.

I wanted Nash but I heard enough good about Peja to be happy - outside of the real concern that he might not come over and play.

Nash would have been nifty if we then picked Pierce in the following year but I'm pretty sure Peja coming has something to do with why Vlade decided to take a chance on Sac, and that pair was so fantastic for us its really hard to envision them NOT together.

Kobe likely would’ve refused to play for the Kings and we would’ve got Vlade a couple of seasons earlier.
Eh, I doubt that. He wasn't that type of kid. He wouldn't have been happy about it (just like Chris Webber) but I firmly believe he'd have taken on the challenge. And been up to the task. Because that is the type of kid he was.

The big question is, had he been drafted and played for the KINGS, what would his development been like? Like Eddie Jones in LA, he'd initially been playing behind Mitch Richmond. Would the KINGS still have moved Mitch for C-Webb a couple years later? And would they have still drafted Jason Williams to then trade for Mike Bibby?? Lots of unknowns due to changing circumstances.

But assuming they still land C-Webb, that would have been one helluva duo.

I just have a sneaking suspicion that Monte is up to something, and that something is drafting Kris Murray.

For all his analytics expertise, Monte is unique in that he still understands the human element.

Sorry for the non-sequitur but this is not the case with the Giants front office unfortunately.

I mean can you just imagine what it would do for our already Sauce-Level chemistry if we got the whole fam damly on this squad?
