Derozan or whoever we have been running out there at SF? I’ll go out on a limb and say we would be better.
Maybe. I think the team would be less beneficial to him though than the Spurs were. Similar in some ways but even less size with the guards. Maybe less shooting.

I'd take that role player back anyday. The Hali from last year was incredibly valuable with his spot-shooting, secondary creation, good in the passing lanes. I wonder if the adjustment of giving him more time with the ball is just a role "out of reach" for him.
Well and on the flipside the pieces are just as bad for him. Fox off the ball is a bad idea, period. As hard as it is for Haliburton to deal with doubles or pressure on lead ball handling duties you're giving him NO help with Fox there to keep defenses honest. Gentry has already thrown that part of Lukes system in the garbage for the most part though.

Don't get me wrong, I think he's got an outside shot of blowing up into a true star.

But if it doesn't happen, it's 100% because of the aforementioned things.

It isn't. We had a different point earlier (is Buddy being paid too much as a pure shooter?) and just randomly led us to comparing salaries.
Within that context, I would say that Hield's contract is a function of the league deciding that three-point shooting is the most important skill to have, in the modern NBA. Which is an offensive way of thinking to me, but I don't have an NBA franchise to use as my personal toy.

Really hoping this is when we bottom out and lose 10 straight
If we lose every game until the end of the season, there's a good chance we still won't catch the Pistons at the bottom of the standings lol

(Not that I don't mind. Just getting into the top three and ending up with one of Chet/Banchero/Jabari Jr. would be enough for me lol)
