We know what it looks like when players are one foot in, one foot out. All the trade rumors starting to swirl. Makes it hard to come out of the gate. Gentry had very little leeway from the get for many reasons stated at the coaching change point. He can't be seen as an outsider, he's simply an interim retread on the surface, and getting players to buy into it long term is such a small percentage payoff thing. But, WE'VE seen this. Newbie FO's are apparently noobs to a fault.

Thompson can hustle but I can see why Boston was done with him too. You can't be that kind of target on pick and roll and not be a Jokic level player on the offensive side. No amount of O boarding makes up for that.
