The Road to catching the Spurs

Our only hope is to catch the Spurs now. We are 2.5 games back of the Spurs, but only on 2 games in the Loss column. We still play the Spurs once more at home at the end of March.

If we can catch the Spurs, we still need to fend off the Lakers. Losing to the Clippers last night really hurt our chances to make the playoffs.

20 games to go. Realistically, we need to go something like 14-6 or 15-5 to get to a minimum of 44 or 45 Wins to make the playoffs.
We can do it. We just need to get our heads out of our arses. That is at all levels.

Letting this slip would be a travesty. If we have any character we find a way to get this done.

What happened to betting the house hey ? That's all I'd ask the guys.

We have a few days before the Knicks. Time to get in the gym and work this out. We are young coming off the all star break. Time to put in the work and cut out the excuses

Spurs need to lose this game tonight. Unfortunately Paul George on the bench.

Meanwhile the Spurs likely wins: @ Atl, NY, Cle, Atl, @Was, @Cle, Dal. = 41 wins

Likely losses: @Tor, OKC, Den, POR (SB2B), GSW, @Hou, @Den(SAB2B). 36 losses

That means the Spurs have to win 5 out of: Mil (MilB2B), @Dal, Miami, @Bos (Bosb2b), @Chr, Sac (SacB2B) to get to 46 wins

Spurs win. That puts them at likely 42 with the teams they are facing. Our play-off chances hanging by a thread

Here is a possible scenario that can potentially screw us. If the Kings wind up in a 3 way tie with the Spurs and the Clippers, we would be the odd team out of the playoffs, because we have the weakest conference record. :(

We actually should root for the Clippers to pull away and the Spurs to start losing more, because there is a very little chance we catch and pass the Clippers now.

I think catching the Spurs are the only chance we have of making the playoffs now.

The Kings probably not catching the Clippers. The Lakers are the bigger threat to the Kings getting the #8 in the playoffs.

No need to root for the Lakers! ;)
Yeah, catching the Spurs and keeping the Lakers behind us is the only path now. Barring a late season collapse by the Clippers and they appear to have way too much fight in them for that to happen.

No kings fan should ever cheer for the Lakers. EVER

Even if the only thing that happens of they win is it ruins their draft odds?

Lakers need to go 14-5(44-38) to have a chance to make the playoffs and probably 15-4 to definitely make it. LeBron doesn't look 100%. They aren't making the playoffs.

The clippers have the most cupcake schedule I’ve ever seen. I literally laughed looking at it
Yea, pretty much. They play the Knicks tonight, so that's almost an auto win unless NY comes ready to play spoiler.

There's a lot of people on here who are going to root against the Lakers when they face the Clips tomorrow night, but I'm not one of them. We need the Clippers to collapse. The Spurs are facing Denver so hopefully that's an easy L. But they beat OKC last night so who knows.

The Clippers are locked in. I don’t see them collapsing. The Kings would need to gain 3 games in the loss column on the Clippers in the final 20 games, otherwise the Clippers staying within striking distance may wind us biting us in the end.

A 3 way tie at the end of the season with the Spurs and Clippers and the Kings lose the playoff tie break.

It’s better for Kings to just tie the Spurs and we win that tie break.

A Clippers win and Lakers loss is good for the Kings. The Lakers own the tie break with us.

Any Spurs loss is good for the Kings. I think the Spurs are the only realistic target at this point.

Never under estimate the NBA refs in helping LeBron and the Lakers into the playoffs.

Unless, LeBron shuts it down to rest his groin for the rest of the season, LeBron will always be a threat to make the playoffs.

The Kings not the Spurs or the Lakers are the biggest threat to not making the playoffs.

Simply put we need to look within and get this done. We have the talent and everyone including management, the coaching staff and the players needs to hold themselves to a higher accord to will us there and to ensure we execute.

There will be no figer pointing if we don't make it, just emptyiness across the board in that we didn't achieve the goal that the team and it's players had itself had set out since day one. Management and the coaching has always tempered their statements RE playoffs but don't get it twisted, that was the goal of the team from day 1 of this season and now with it all on the line, I expect some resolve and gumption to get it done.

If you have any character you simply do not just quit on your goals and if you fail, you fail giving it your all. That is what I expect for the remainder of this season. And yes I am still saving for those playoff tickets

Good, nothing good comes out of playing for the Lakers. Johnson has to be one of the worst GMs in the league
It’s their arrogance that they are the Lakers and they don’t need to rebuild like every other franchise.

They think they can take short cuts to being top tier again and now they have 1 superstar at age 35 and a bunch of young role players. They traded away D’Angelo Russell because they drafted Lonzo Ball, LOL.

LeBron is going to age very quickly trying to carry the Lakers in the stacked West. LeBron should had stayed in the East, he’d be top 3 seed right now.

They didn't have the forsight to see D'Angelo blowing up. And to highlight their ineptness then they kicked him on the way out with Johnson leading the low blows.

I'm glad he's doing well and rubbing their noses in it. I hope no one joins them this summer to expedite the demise of the franchise and the James era.
