It's being reported by Kevin O'Connor that the Pelicans are thinking about an offer of Randle+1st round pick for Porter Jr.

Porter Jr has a horrific contract. I've always been AGAINST him getting max money because I believe they should be reserved for actual stars. However, he still has good value as a legitimate good 3&D role player.

I would give up Bogdan+filler for him.

I’m not including Bogie in any trade offer with Washington that doesn’t yield back Beal. They are in a desperate state, not us...no need to give up the farm for an overpaid 3&D specialist

We should not view Porters salary as it compares the NBA, we should see how it fits for our team. He has 3 year left including this year. 3rd year is a PO, which he is 100% keeping. We have to extend Buddy and Bogi in Porters final season (assuming we are keeping them) both are RFA. We would have flexibility with porters last year. He is an expiring, we could trade him in that vain. Or we could negotiate an extension at a much lesser contract if it works out.

We have so much cap room the next 3 years, who cares if we spend it on Porter. We are not getting a better Wing player to sign here than him.

I don't think giving up Bogdan is giving up the farm. He's an above average player, but we already have Buddy who plays the same starting position. We need a legitimate SF, and that could be Porter Jr. His contract reeks, but it is what it is.

If we were to trade for Beal, I think talks would begin with Buddy not Bogdan. I would love to trade for Beal though. He's a solidified All-Star.

Wtf.......no man. And if the Wizards get that offer from the Pelicans, they should be all over it. Porter is not as good as Bogi.....just my opinion but when you add in the horrific Porter contract, it is a bad bad contract to take on

If anything, Zbo plus Ben plus Skal and maybe even JJ but we are going to want Porter and an asset such a first round pick.

If not, then hard pass and wait for the next guy. I’m still of belief that he better the Kings play and have stabilized, then free agents can look at Sac as more desirable. If not a star, then certainly a good role player who doesn’t make max money.

According to Woj, Porter and Oubre have received minimal interest in the open market....it’s why they are now open reluctantly, to having to shop Wall or Beal

I highly doubt that the Wizards would give up Porter Jr and a 1st round pick for our garbage. Porter Jr is far from a bad player. Overpaid? yeah, but a bad player who needs a 1st round pick to dump his salary? no way.

Porter Jr is only 25yearsold. He is a legitimate SF with his size. He is an elite shooter in the NBA. He is one of the best wing defenders in the league. You don't get a guy like that and a 1st round pick simply for free. That's insane.

We say this every year only to end up with guys like Arron Afflalo, Anthony Tolliver, Zach Randolph, and Bjelica. We almost got Zach LaVine but everybody on this board absolutely hated the idea of LaVine anywhere near this team except me and a few other members. He was a RFA anyways though.

Plus, the Kings and stabilization? Dude.. we just had an article come out 2 days ago about the FO wanting to fire Joerger. The leak came out from our assistant GM! We are far from being stabilized.

People shouldn't overlook the value of Satoransky. He'd not the defender the team needs, but he's probably the most undervalued/underappreciated part of the Wiz roster.

I hope our front office in its bid to have this year as a development year doesn't miss the chance to compete at an enhanced level now. Without mortgaging our future this is a move we need to make

I just don't know who our targets are otherwise. I don't want to draft someone if we can trade for picks or wait another year or two. We have a nice core now, some decent complimentary players. Porter's expensive but we wanted him at that price last year and if he is a dud it doesn't impact us when the real decisions have to be made.

But if we have real FA targets that are actually likely to come next year and aren't restricted that is perhaps a different story. I just don't see anyone that isn't either restricted and will get matched or an all world player we can't sign in a million years.

If he doesn't really achieve as a King then you could be looking at a T-Wolves situation with Wiggins getting overpaid and not performing and that might not sit well with some on this team. All these factors have to be considered.

I imagine Oubre winds up costing a similar amount. Because some team is going to have to offer a price Washington won't match. And in their salary situation they'll probably match only so they can keep an asset to trade later.

Porter is the better player. He is being underutilized in Washington and it's criminal to be honest.

I can see the arguments for and against going after Porter, and it takes two to tango, but I don't understand why it would be better to get Beal than Porter. If we get Beal we solidify a non-need position at SG then we have to hope we can fix SF in free agency. If we get Porter, then we fix SF, and SG is already good, and we don't have to hope somebody signs with us (and attracting top free agents to Sacramento is still an issue). I mean, Beal would leave us still wishing and praying, Porter and we'd basically have our lineup set.

A lot of you guys are underrating Porter. He's a lot like Bjelica as far as his impact on the game goes.

If you look at Bjelica's stats this year, they don't jump off the page at you. Something like 11pts and 5reb with a couple of assists a game. Porter's stats don't jump off the table either. Great shooter, not a great scorer and not a guy who can put the team on his back and will them to victory.

The key has been Porter's ability to play winning basketball. There's a reason why he's been way up there in most advanced stats in the league the last couple years. Beli has been the same for us this year. His advanced stats are really good so far even though his numbers don't wow you. Most of us that have watched all the games this year would probably agree that Beli had a massive hand in most of the Kings wins this year. The stops he gets on defense, the getting back in transition and swatting the balls away, the timely shots etc etc. He does a ton of things that don't show up in the box score but they stifle what would be 4 or 5 point swings for the opposition. Pay attention to how many easy buckets Beli stops the opposition from getting on a night to night basis.

Porter does just that except he's been even better at it at a younger age. I'd swoop him up in a second if it didn't cost too much.

There is no need to overpay for Porter. He is good and an excellent fit for us, but the Wiz are in salary cap hell, are playing extremely poor, will continue to be a tax paying team, and likely to lose Oubre for nothing if they are unable to trade Porter. I think they will trade him for pennies on the dollar if it helps them keep Oubre for a reasonable price. Not that he's a better player, but Porter's contract is atrocious for his current production, and Wiz have no other way out. In fact, if they are unable to trade anyone, we might be able to get Oubre next summer by making him a decent to good offer.

Wall's contract is untradeable. Someone might take Beal, but will be interesting to see what offers teams make knowing their situation.

It's a big reason I'd be willing to eat Mahinmi too if we needed to work a deal in that vein since all he essentially costs us is our cap-space this summer. Like i'd much rather eat Mahinmi than trade WCS or someone else of value.

Porter is as close to a glove fit as we could find in the NBA right now. Beal is of course way more talented, but we aren't looking for his skill-set anymore. It's covered with Fox/Bogdan/Buddy and eventually Bagley. Porter is a guy who can be very effective hovering in that 17-18% USG rate range, lights out shooter and like you said, does a lot of things on the defensive end especially that help teams win. Can do some super fun small-ball/super pace teams with a Fox/Buddy/Bogdan/Porter/Bagley type of lineups too.

That's an 8-man rotation I'd have a ton of confidence in making a serious push for the playoffs.
