To be fair, George Hill just doesn't fit no matter what system we're running. He plays like a 3&D wing in a PG's body; I think his problem is that he can't be a starting PG unless he's the secondary ballhandler and playmaker.
But, while it's not as egregious as George Karl and Cousins, this offense is a problem. It benefits one person and one person alone, and that's Zbo. Coincidence that's he the focal point of the offense; I don't think so. There are two hallmarks to this offense: paint scoring/postups and high-post action. Zbo is the only one that can check both boxes, even as the rotting corpse he is now.
Only two players on the team have post-up ability, that's Zbo and Skal, and even then it doesn't benefit the latter the most (more on that in a second). Only Zbo really works as a passing big in the high post.
I'm usually one of the first to trash Koufos, but I'm seeing the ball get dumped into him a lot more this year. To Kosta Koufos, y'know, the guy with next to no offensive ability? That's not really fair because that's not his game in the slightest.
Drive-n-kick, PnR, transition. That's the type of offense we should be running. PnR with Fox and WCS, as well as PnR and more importantly PnP with Skal. We saw it once this game, but every time they run it it seems to work. This is where picking Hill over bringing back Lawson stings. Lawson is tailor-made for this type of offense that works so much better with our guys. Hill isn't. Neither is Zbo.
