Apparently we are linked to Matt Barnes. Would Barnes, Casspi, Butler some Afflalo be enough at SF for you guys to be comfortable with trading Rudy and upgrading PG position presumably?
Depends on who the PG is.......Gay is a good number 2 scoring option. I'd like the grit from Barnes and Casspi and defense but we'd be a little short on players who can create their own shot.

Kings interested in Matty Ice. I can see us ditching Gay and/or Koufos for a point and us going with Matty Ice/Casspi at the SF spot. I like it. It gives our team a much needed edge. We need more players that give a ****. Gay is too complacent imo
He fits with our other signings, veterans who are short term options and provide something team has lacked(wing defense, toughness in this case). I think if we can sign Barnes and re sign Curry then trade Rudy for maybe a starting caliber PG or two rotation guys, then your roster starts to take shape.

Collison/Curry/Cousins
Afflalo/Ben/Richardson
Barnes/Casspi/Butler
WCS/Tolliver/Skal
Cousins/Koufos/Papa

theres your base right there with Rudy, Ben, Koufos being the trade chips. A pretty nice mix of vets and young guys who fit Joerger more.

Thats actually a pretty gritty starting lineup. I think Afflalo has a little more to give on defense than he has shown lately. His last stops have been with Portland and New York, both of which play little to no defense. He would look much better in this proposed lineup.

Koufos/Gay/McLemore in a three or four team trade that brings back Eric Bledsoe.

Then the Kings sign Barnes, Curry, Acy & Stephenson.

Cousins/Papagiannis/Labissiere
Cauley-Stein/Tolliver/Acy
Casspi/Barnes/Butler
Afflalo/Stephenson/Richardson
Bledsoe/Collison/Curry

That should do it.

;)

Maybe we again talk to the Bulls? Brick mentioned it a few days earlier and I agree I could see a trade of Rudy, Ben and Caron for Doug Mcdermott and Taj Gibson.
Then sign a vet PG and re sign Seth.
This would give us
Collison / Vet PG
Afflalo / Curry /Richardson
Mcdermott / Casspi / Barnes
Wcs / Gibson / Tolliver / Skal
Cousins / Koufos / Papagiannis

Edit: forgot about Tolliver so I dropped Snell from the trade

I was going to mention that you forgot Tolliver. :)

I like Gibson but it seems like an overpay given his seeming decline and I'm not big on McDermott. He certainly wouldn't start over Casspi or Barnes.

I can see where you are coming from. I didn't like McDermott until a few months ago but when I started watching film of him I learned that - despite not being a good one on one defender - he is very engaged help defender. He is of course also a very good shooter and cutter and therefore would fit Cousins game very well. Per 36 he averaged 14.8 points and hit 42.5% of his 3 point shoots on 5 attempts. In contrast to Rudy who could leave us for nothing next year, Mcdermott is on a rookie deal for 2 more years and then turns into a RFA. So all in all I think it is a fair deal.

I'd be okay with Gay for Gibson & McDermott. Not super excited but I wouldn't hate it.

Temple is a solid signing. He's essentially a poor man's Courtney Lee. Strong defender, decent outside shooter, low usage, moves the ball and in general is a team guy who makes the correct play.
But with Gay/Casspi/Butler at SF and Afflalo/McLemore/Temple/Richardson at SG the Kings are overloaded with wings and short on PGs.

There has to be a trade coming.

I wonder if the Kings still have enough caproom to re-sign Curry. That's a move I really hope they make.

It's starting to look like there's not enough cap to sign Seth. But yeah, there has to be a trade coming unless we think Temple is our backup PG and we call it a day (I doubt it).

Right now we're looking at:

Collison/ICousins
Afflalo/McLemore/Temple/Richardson
Gay/Casspi/Butler
WCS/Tolliver/Labissiere
Cousins/Koufos/PapaG

We're full. And not really a good option at the backup point. We could sign somebody else, but we'd have to cut Butler to do it - that's almost looking likely, except that it will leave us a bit thin at the SF, especially if we trade Rudy.

Right now, even Rudy/Ben for a PG would leave us a bit thin at SF unless we turned around and grabbed Barnes or somebody.

That's basically the kind of player we wanted. Can play D, can decently shoot, can handle the ball. A good role player who knows his role and doesn't need the ball in his hands. Good team guy.
Most important, he seems to be loved by his former teammates. Should be a great locker room guy.

Another ho-hum who-what-why over-30 signing:

- Affalo
- Tolliver
- Temple

At least Vlade is consistent. :D
These are all system guys. I'm sure Joerger was onboard with all of them.

But right now the Kings have:

Cousins/Koufos/Papagiannis
Cauley-Stein/Tolliver/Labissiere
Gay/Casspi/Butler
Afflalo/Temple/McLemore/Richardson
Collison

all under contract or as 1st round picks that should be expected to sign.

That's 14 of 15 roster slots. I. Cousins or another reserve PG would make a full roster but I can't believe the Kings would start the season without a 3rd PG, especially with Collison likely facing a suspension.

There must be a trade brewing.

Why would OKC want Ben?

It's hard to say without knowing the yearly contract numbers for Tolliver, Afflalo & Temple but it should be somewhere between $4-5.5 million.

Hopefully enough to sign Curry.
Yeah according to spotrac we are commited 86 million in salary and with another 3 million as cap hold it leaves as with about 5 million.

funky is right

Temple is a solid player. Solid defense, will hit some threes. Role player type who can start for you in a pinch. Played well when Beal was hurt last year.
His 3pt% isn't good- he shoot 34.5% and his career average is 33.5%.
A trade for Ben should come soon.

I would find it weird if the Kings wouldn't want to keep Curry. Really good shooter, decent playmaker, should be pretty cheap, in desperate need of PG help. We now have a lot of players under contract. Have to believe a trade is in the works soon. At least we are signing Joerger type guys, Temple will defend on the perimeter and is a solid basketball player that can hit an open shot. Whats clear now is that Vlade, Cantanella and co. are the ones making the decisions. No splashy big names, the Vivek specialty.

Yeah, I just did the same rundown. My dream is still Rudy/Kosta/Ben somehow netting Bledsoe as that would leave the caproom to sign Curry and Barnes and either Acy or Moreland (or other bench big) to balance the roster.

But something has to give.
