Kings making Rudy available for trade?

#92
No he can't because you have to go sign Rondo. If we want Anderson, we have to make him our 3rd fiddle, and get rid of Rudy to make it happen. And as far as 3rd fiddles go, a 3pt bomber next to a ball-dominant PG who can't shoot and a big who needs the paint clear as much as Cousins does makes so much sense it's not even funny. Anderson isn't a guy who's going to stop the ball and start ISO'ing people. He gets the ball and is either shooting or making the next pass. Getting to kick out to him and Casspi would be absolutely filthy.

Even in this new inflated market, it's hard to imagine he'll be much more than the $14mil we're going to pay Rudy. Getting him now gives us a head-start on building the Rondo-Cuz+floor spacers and we acquire his bird rights to go over the cap to sign him (I think)
Have to disagree with you on this, having watched New Orleans a lot for the past two seasons. The changes in his game include: more ISOing, where he's developed backing down his defender and spinning to get to the rim or doing that Dirk turnaround shot, but also he's become a better rebounder especially on the offensive end. But I suppose you could argue that that's his role there.

Any way of getting Tyreke back in that deal with Pelicans? His 3P% this year is a pretty good 38% on 3 attempts per game. Improves us defensively and can play both guard positions.

Not the greatest of pairings with Rondo but improves us significantly at SG and provides more flexibility as a combo guard rather than playing two small PGs all the time.
I love Tyreke, he's one of my favourite players. But objectively speaking I just don't think he would be a good fit with Rondo here. He's also not playing particularly well this season (not just stats but decision making). Agree with Slim that Holiday (or Gordon??) would be a better target.

Ya watched him vs clippers he's not a catch and shoot only player anymore. Starting Casspi at the 3 doesn't loose defense cause Gay plays defense once in a blue moon.
We could try a sign and trade in the off season for a guy like Lee or Bazemore.

Man we are horrible. We have the killer instinct of a 2 year old holding her teddy bear. They are shooting like crap and we can't put them away.

Evans shouldn't be playing point. Also, he's continued to deal with injuries since leaving Sac and I don't get why some here want him back. I'd rather have Holiday in a sign-and-trade deal for Ryan.

No way the Bulls give up both Taj and Mirotic for Rudy. I doubt they give up Mirotic for anything less than a superstar.

That may be true, but it matters somewhat less what Bulls fans think of Mirotic than it does what Gar Forman thinks of Mirotic. By many accounts, Forman considers Mirotic to be his pet project.

The Bulls have been starting lineups featuring 0 SFs. Gay is a fit for them assuming they even like him. They want to put Portis or Butler on the table....ok....Mirotic? Meh. Taj? Meh. We don't need another PF.

I don't believe Vlade offered Rudy in this deal. I think as usual agents are muck raking to find the best deal for their client. In this case I suspect it is Anderson's agent or the Pelicans trying to build up Anderson's trade value.

The Kings should try to sign Anderson in the off season or trade a bench player or two for him now.

I want the Kings to add talent not subtract it.

I don't know why there's so much dislike towards Rudy. I think he balls out pretty good when being played at the 3 instead of the 4. I think the main concern should be the play of the guards, defense especially.
It's been Rondo who's been killing us. I want to see Karl hold him accountable. It's pretty amazing when he gets 13asts, but I'd rather take 8 if it meant he put more effort on defense.

It continues to amaze me how people want to blame Rondo for so many of the team's ills. Is his defense spectacular? Nope. No way. Will it ever be again? Nope. No way. His value is in what he CAN do and what he can do is run the team better than almost any other floor general in the league. That talent alone is worth a lot more than some here give him credit for.

No player is perfect. Rondo isn't either. What he is, however, is part of what is putting DMC on the right track. That, too, is worth a lot.

... oh and it was the Pelicans who declined that deal.

I agree with going after him this off season though. I actually think he'll be rather easy to sign. Not only is this his home town. He'd be playing with DMC on the block and (hopefully) Rondo running the point. If that's not the perfect duo for a stretch four to play along side with I don't what is. Oh, there's also this new arena opening up in 10 months that I keep hearing about.

Rondo is our biggest problem on defense though. There are nights where he doesn't even bother fighting over screens or contesting jumpshots. Do we accept that?

You just admitted his defense is poor.

No one is denying that Rondo is an amazing floor manager, but his defense has been terrible. Is it because Rondo's offense is so good to the point that we're able to overlook his lackluster defense?

We're always talking about how this team loses focus on defense. Should Rondo be held accountable for his defense?

I will agree Rondo's defense is "lackluster" partially, I suspect, because of his recurring back issues. I make allowances, however, because of the good he does in other areas. My problem is with those who act as though he is the single biggest problem on the team.

Accountable for his defense? That's up to people with a much higher pay grade than mine, people who are better versed in all aspects of the topic.

I'm a little bit worried about the locker room and down-the-road effects from it. Rudy fits in with Cousins and Rondo, two guys that not many may vibe with.

I understand his defensive intensity or focus hasn't always been there, and that he's struggled earlier this year. (But has been better lately, like much of the team.) On the other side of that struggle is the point that you're trading a solid #2/#3 guy in hope of a defensive role player. That's quite a trade-off.

I'd tell NO,to take a flying leap.....We will get Anderson in the offseason if we want but don't want their guards as Reke and Rondo together doesn't seem like a fit, no on Jrue, no on Gordon....doesn't leave much.
