Kings close to signing Mozgov?

Pete'D obviously knows a lot about Mozgov. He did block 1 shot a game two seasons ago in only 15 minutes. Big dude, seems decently mobile and might work well with Cousins.

I like Mosgov, but don't like how many of our targets are ex GS/Den players.

Comes across as not having much of a plan and instead just going with what you know. PDA seems to think if you played for GS or Den you must be a better option. Aldrich would be just as good of an option IMO but why we go after Landry, then Mosgov before Aldrich makes little sense to me.

Familiarity can be a blessing or a curse in this case. But Pete'D knows Mozgov's game really well and probably thought he compliments Cousins well, or just likes him as a backup. We'll see if Malone tries to play them together.

I completely agree, that the Den/GSW revolving door is NOT a good sign. My guess is that PDA's default setting when in doubt is stick with the guy you know. In the case of Mosgov Vs. Aldrich I am not sure it matters much, but sooner or later the Landry deal is going to be exposed as problem. (too much $ for too long for a bad fit) but who knows how that will work out down the road. Let's just hope thathe looks harder at the other 27 teams for trades.

Mozgov is fine to give us a real backup center. Not the lane clogger we need particularly, but he's solid enough just to back Cousins up.

However the exclusive focus on Golden State and Denver personnel is getting comical. Either these guys were unprepared to suddenly be running a team and didn't have their homework on anybody else, or the Sacto free agency curse is alive and well and they are finding out they can't actually sign anybody here but old friends and family. Imagine what they could do if the personnel from the other 27 teams was also available (or possibly 28 teams given that they don't seem to know our own guys either).

Hey, at least it's a step up from Petrie, who only dealt with the Rox. ;)

He already has, and we have a starting, defensive SF for it.

Or did I miss Mbah a Moute's stints with the Warriors and Nuggets? ;)
The joke is that if the Ellis rumors had any legs, even the Mbah a Moute trade may have spun out of sign and trade talks with the Bucks for another Golden State guy.

Brick, you are so negative lately. I just don't get it. Did you accidentally shrink your underwear a couple weeks ago and haven't had time to buy new ones?

I think we BOTH hope that PDA did NOT look hard at all the FA's on the market first then decided the best guy not from GSW or Den was Mbah a Moute. At the time I said I liked the signing, but was he the really the best PDA could find? Lets hope he CAN look harder.

well, it was a trade, too, so nobody knows if Mbah a Moute would've signed here if the decision were up to him...:p

Have to agree with this one... Whats the hell is up with this place?
It's been absolutely miserable visiting this site the last couple weeks.

doing a quick head count here. JT, Cuz, Landry, Ppat, Chucky, Mosgov. that is 6 bigs. I think that is tell tell sign somebody is gonna be shipped out before long. looking like JT, Ppat, or chucky won't be a king next season.

So since we signed Ben Mclemore do we have enough cap space to sign Mosgov who I guess has a 3.9 Min Qualifying offer per hoops hype

Do we have to amnesty Salmons to make that offer , or would it have to be a sign and trade?

So I guess the Meeting with Odem is off?

Who would Denver want? P Pat? Jimmer?

Taking a step back here, has anyone seen this anywhere but a couple random Twitter posts? I've never heard of "NBA News Group" and quite frankly don't think Hoopsworld is all that credible, either.

Edit to add: I did see Sham post on Twitter that the Kings formally renounced their rights to Aldrich, Douglas, and Johnson, so it's possible a move is in the works. Still, I'd be surprised if they did anything before the meeting with Oden, who may have played in a game against the Nuggets or Warriors once so that's why they're interested him :p

This could be it, really. I'm not putting much stock into this until Amick or someone mentions it. Just thought it was worth discussing.

How would you react if I told you that we drafted in our draft position, made no moves, and took as our lottery pick an athletic Kansas kid who didn't fill a need and started sliding in the draft before really struggling in his first summer league game, that we made a couple of minor and irrelevant free agency signings, and that we made a minor trade swapping some 2nd round picks for a minor platoon type SF/PF defensive specialist from the Eastern Conference who we hope might take some of Salmons minutes.

Oh right, THAT WAS EXACTLY THE DESCRIPTION OF LAST OFFSEASON.

Now throw in the owners being too cheap to retain Reke, and the reaquisition of an old failure of ours in Carl Landry, and you would swear, SWEAR to me that Geoff Petrie and the Maloofs had never left. And if such a revelation didn't make you grumpy, there's something the matter with you.

hang on, only Denver can tender him the qualifying offer. they have and he hasn't taken it, meaning he's an RFA now. this also means that whatever contract we'd be signing him to, the Nuggets would be allowed to match. they apparently want him, so that's a problem. especially since they'd most likely be looking for a centre, seeing as how McGee would be the only one they'd be left with, if Mozgov were to leave.

I don't love the moves we've made either, but you make it sound like we can just go get/trade whoever we want. I liked Tyreke as well, but we are in the minority. I post on another board (not an NBA board) with friends that are huge fans of the NBA and pretty much everyone of them was laughing that the Kings were considering matching on Reke. So WE are in the minority. That being said, this new group has 7 years of **** to clean up.

Well if they tendered the Qualifying offer Mosgov could just accept it, Yes if we made an offer Denver could match, but if Kings offer not made/accepted by moscov there could still be a sign trade

I saw where Denver has intr in Nate Robinson so if Kings offer made, maybe Den does not plan to match so they would have money for a Nate offer?

Maybe they would want IT and filler (Jimmer or Outlaw) in a sign n trade instead of Nate?

Fine with Mozgov although I also prefer Cole. We'll see what happens. Oden above all of them, though.

As far as the PDA GSW/DEN thing - Agree with the sentiment that the constant signing of their rejects is getting old, however I can't imagine it will last longer than this offseason.

Every move for some people is going to be met with negativism. Reminder that we haven't been able to win over 30 games. The pathetic thing to do would be keeping the same core. Instead we are surrounding Cousins with what the FO and Malone feel are players so that Cousins an succeed. That to me is exciting.
